I was rewatching American Hustle the other day, and I really thought that Kate Hudson would have been incredible in Jennifer Lawrence’s role. First of all, she was age appropriate for it, she could play the hell out of that part because of her range, and we would have seen the vulnerability in the character that J Law could not convey. J Law has an issue with that and that’s why she struggles in some roles. Kate Hudson does not struggle with vulnerability when given the chance.

I just think that Kate Hudson should try and buddy up with him for a little while and see where her career goes. She could have played Joy very well also. As well as Amy Adams role in the Fighter. However, I love that Amy Adams performance.

So what do you think? We all know Kate Hudson hasn’t lived up to the potential we knew her to have after Almost Famous. I think he’s a really good match for her. Thoughts?

What makes you think that he would want to work with her?

Also, obviously Academy voters didn’t feel like Jennifer Lawrence “struggled” in those roles considering she got Oscar nods for both (and came close to winning for AH).

    You know what? Sold.

I like all your recast suggestions despite I dislike every one of those movies. I can see Kate Hudson taking those three roles perfectly, and in the case of American Hustle, being a definitive upgrade. That would have been an actual good, inspired casting.

I don’t think I mentioned things about the academy thinking she struggles? Because I wouldn’t say that. She has 4 Oscar nominations. However, critics often mention she struggles with vulnerability.

Hudson is better off getting in good with Ryan Murphy again. That’s where it’s at right now, not David O. Russell. Not really seeing that working out. She had a striking are on “Glee” from a couple years ago, so that’s her in. No reason she can’t shoehorn her way into one of these “Feud” installments or co-headline a season of “American Horror Story.” After she’s back in the public consciousness and good graces again, sure, go and do some Oscar-bait. I still think about how great she was as Penny Lane in “Almost Famous” after all this time. Clock’s tickin’.

Who the F even CARES? Kate Hudson stinks as an actress (she basically IS Penny Lane IRL) and David O(verrated). Russell is a creep on top of it…

She was horrible in both films and he was trying to say that Kate Hudson would’ve done better with those roles (and she would have).
