Spotlight, director Tom McCarthy’s (The Station Agent) upcoming drama, which centres on a Boston Globe investigation into sexual abuse within the Catholic archdiocese of Boston…
Featuring from left to right in the image above are Michael Keaton as Walter “Robby” Robinson, Spotlight Team editor; Liev Schreiber as Marty Baron, Boston Globe editor; Mark Ruffalo as Michael Rezendes, Boston Globe reporter; Rachel McAdams as Sacha Pfeiffer, Boston Globe reporter; John Slattery as Ben Bradlee, Jr., Boston Globe deputy managing editor; Brian d’Arcy James as Matt Carroll, Boston Globe reporter.

It is expected to debut later this year!

What do you think GoldDerby? This picture is serving me The Newsroom realness mint tea and I have to say that I’m liking what I’m seeing even if it’s just a picture. Maybe we have another Oscar contender in hands?

That’s a great cast of underrated talents, especially Schreiber and McAdams who are both two actors who I think will get recognized by Oscar eventually.., maybe for this? McAdams will be having quite a year.

Personally I’m hoping that Mark Ruffalo gets recognized within the next 10 years or less. Such a wonderful actor. Class act.

So… Keaton’s not done apparently. Not only he has Spotlight coming up this year (isn’t he playing the lead team editor? is he supporting or lead?) but he also has the Ray Kroc biopic (McDonalds founder – great character for an actor).

So, they just announced that Spotlight will complete in Toronto. That gives me hope this could be in the conversation if it does fare well, especially for Michael Keaton after being hot off of Birdman’s BP win.

Agreed. Just to clarify, by attention from Oscar I meant their first nominations, but Ruffalo needs to win some time soon for sure.

Oh, good. I hope that he can keep his momentum going.

^Hmmm… The trailer didn’t do much for me, but hopefully the film is good. Love the cast.

Not terribly excited by the trailer, despite my adoration for pretty much everyone involved. It does, however, look like a great showcase for Keaton and Crudup, and possibly Ruffalo. We’ll see.

Will Screiber be lead? If so he seems to be trampled and overshadowed by McAdams, Keaton, and Ruffalo.
