I wasn’t sure whether to put this in the Oscars or Tonys section, so I chose this one since it’s more widely read by GD members.
Which actors from Broadway/the stage do you wish to see on film or on television? What roles should they play (like if they were the star of a movie from the past, what movie/role would it be)? Which directors/writers/actors should they work with?
Id say Kevin Chamberlin
I’ve found that many stage actors don’t translate well to the screen, and vice versa.
Audra McDonald could easily win an Oscar. She does translate well to the screen, as evidenced by her multiple Emmy nominations (she should have won for A Raisin in the Sun). Throughout the 90’s she went undefeated at the Tonys.
Patina Miller – she may or may not translate well. She will certainly have the opportunity to prove herself if she’s cast in the film version of Pippin.
Sutton Foster – she’s doing great work on Bunheads.
Alice Ripley – if that woman is anything on screen like she is on stage, watch out.
Kevin Chamberlin – great actor with terrific comedic timing. I’m actually surprised he isn’t on a sitcom yet.
Katie Finneran – she was the best part about that terrible I Hate My Teenage Daughter show that Fox had a year or two ago. She is great with comedy and drama, would probably shine in a major supporting role.
It’s been quite awhile since I’ve done some screen work.. It’s about time I start back up again. I’m ready to win my Oscar.
Rylance has done quite a few movies including ” The Other Boleyn Girl ” and
the controversial ” Intimacy ” where he was the lead and let it all “hang out”
Michael Fassender style. It was one of the first mainstream movies where the
actors engaged in real on screen unsimulated sex.
