Riz Ahmed join Felicity Jones in the Star Wars spin-off Rogue One
Rogue One is set in between Episodes III and IV and features a plot to steal the secrets of the first Death Star. “It’s basically in an era where there are no Jedi, where they’re all but extinct. It’s about the fact that God’s not coming to save us. We’re on our own and we have to do this ourselves,” Gareth Edwards has said of the movie. “The absence of Jedi is omnipresent in the film, it hangs over the whole movie. It comes down to a group of individuals who don’t have special powers but have to bring hope and justice to the galaxy.”April 23, 2015 at 7:54 pm #185796
I don’t know about you, but I’m beyond excited for this! These two, Felicity and Riz, are a dream cast. And the plot sounds interesting, just tailored for me.
This come from someone who never got really invested in any Star Wars.April 23, 2015 at 8:26 pm #185797
Love Felicity Jones (I liked her more than Eddie Redmayne in The Theory of Everything), Don’t like Gareth Edwards directing (did not like Godzilla at all).April 23, 2015 at 9:08 pm #185798
I’m really starting to get excited for this. Wasn’t sure about the plot at first, given the foregone conclusion involved, but hey, I’ve loved plenty of period pieces and biopics where the history is well-publicized, so that shouldn’t be too much of a damper. And this cast is growing into something special. Aside from these two, you have Ben Mendelsohn, who is proving himself to be an incredible force of nature.April 23, 2015 at 11:54 pm #185799
Riz Ahmed?!? YES! So happy for that casting. I wasn’t the biggest fan of ‘Godzilla’, but that had more to do with the screenplay than Gareth Edwards’ direction which I thought was actually quite good. Looking forward to this, and even more now that Ahmed is joining Felicity Jones (already a great choice) and Ben Mendelsohn (another great and interesting choice).April 24, 2015 at 7:34 am #185800
What a great cast. I’m still warming up to the plot but I’ll get there… eventually.April 24, 2015 at 11:23 am #185801

Agreed. The screenplay was the villain. Edwards even had some moments in Godzilla when showed inspired directorial choices, so I’m not so concerned about him. And with that cast… honestly, I’m already sold.May 13, 2015 at 11:57 am #185802
Variety is reporting that Diego Luna has joined Felicity Jones and Riz Ahmed in a leading role in ‘Star Wars: Rogue Leader’. Ben Mendelsohn is playing a villain. Gareth Edwards (‘Godzilla’) is directing. http://variety.com/2015/film/news/star-wars-rogue-one-diego-luna-cast-1201494752/May 17, 2015 at 8:37 pm #185803
Folks, do you think we’ll get a teaser until The Force Awakens release?April 7, 2016 at 6:01 am #662495
New trailer for Star Wars: Rogue One. Looks really good. Feels fresh, with new characters and plot. Ben Mendelsohn is definitely the stand out, and it’s great to see Felicity Jones in more lead roles. Hopefully looking at nominations for Alexandre Desplat’s score, the visual effects, sound categories, and maybe even a first Oscar nomination for the massively overdue Grieg Fraser.April 7, 2016 at 6:47 am #662502
This looks thrilling as hell!April 7, 2016 at 9:10 pm #662632
That looks bad? Too much bland felicity jones making the same blank facial expression in every scene.April 7, 2016 at 10:34 pm #662647
I don’t know. I mean… I just don’t know. I’m sure it’ll be a good movie in its own right, but… I am not sure with this one.April 8, 2016 at 5:33 am #662693
This movie looks OK. Felicity Jones is miscast. Hands down. She already is the worst thing about this film.
