What are instances that an actor, their co-star or their director who worked on the same movie together, ended up dying the same year?
For this year, I can think of five them and they’re all connected to Robin Williams.
In February 2014, Philip Seymour Hoffman, who worked with Williams on “Patch Adams”, died of a drug overdose.
Then later that month, Harold Ramis, who directed Williams on 1986’s “Club Paradise”, died from cancer.
In April, Bob Hoskins (Williams’s co-star on “Hook”) died from Parkinson’s disease.
Next in June, Paul Mazursky, the filmmaker of Williams’s “Moscow on the Hudson”, died from cancer as well.
And of course last month, Williams commits suicide.
Am I sensing a pattern here? What other instances of actors who worked on the same film as well as their directors died in the same year that you can all think of?
Here’s one more for Robin Williams:
Both Williams and Mickey Rooney died this year, and they’re both in the upcoming Night at the Museum 3 (as well as both having been in the first film in that series).
Now the Mike Nichols connection:
Philip Seymour Hoffman, who Nichols directed on “Charlie Wilson’s War”, died in February
Robin Williams, for whom he worked with on “The Birdcage”, died in August
Now just last week, Nichols died suddenly from natural causes.
We’re almost at the end of 2017 and there are four movies that are very connected to their main actors who have died.
Alien: John Hurt and Harry Dean Stanton
Red Dawn: Stanton and Powers Boothe
Tombstone: Boothe and Bill Paxton
A Simple Plan: Paxton and Brent Briscoe
