The Great Gatsby has “100$ Bill”, “Young and Beautiful” and “Over the Love” listed for Best Original Song.

Actually, very quietly, the original song category has become very competitive and full of potential big contenders, and we didn’t even noticed. You have Randy Newman, you have Pharrell and the Despicable Me songs, I’m sure Frozen will have soemthing for consideration as well, plus Inside Llewyn Davis, and there’s an original song from Her done by Karen O. And this is only the stuff I can remember/think of. So it will be tough for The Great Gatsby to become a factor in Original Song.

Carey Mulligan for Best Actress? Good luck with that.

Also, it’s interesting to note the order of actors in categories where there are more than one actor in contention. They’re clearly listed in order of campaign priority, and not alphabetical order. For example, for PRISONERS, the order for supporting actress is Melissa Leo, Viola Davis, and then Maria Bello. Likewise, for HER, we have Scarlett Johansson first, then Amy Adams, then Rooney Mara, and Olivia Wilde last.

I LOL’ed at all of the Man of Steel FYCs. As for Great Gatsby with Original Song, it’ll be tough. You have Frozen, Monsters University, Inside Llewyn Davis, and a few others.

Quite a few other studios have started to update their FYC sites for this year. Maybe, 24Emmy, you could change the title of this thread, so it can become the main thread where we post and discuss the latest FYC site news, rather than creating a new thread for each studio’s FYC?

I was thinking the same thing. It’d be a good idea.

They gotta try, right? They didn’t even bother categorizing the actors, so there’s no faith there, lol.

I think they deserve to be in the talk for Cinematography, Costume Design, Production Design, Original Score, Visual Effects, and Sound Editing/Sound Mixing.

Lionsgate has updated its FYC site. They have MUD and ALL IS LOST listed:

    http://www.lionsgateawards.com/

Paramount has, NEBRASKA, LABOR DAY, STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, and WORLD WAR Z.

The most interesting thing of note, is that Paramount are pushing Will Forte as supporting for NEBRASKA.

Score and Visual Effects are the only ones I can see happening, and even then Hans Zimmer has 12 Years a Slave.

Of WB’s big franchise blockbusters, The Hobbit is the only one that categorizes its actors. Not that they have a shot, but interesting. And Paramount did so with Star Trek Into Darkness, with only 4 actors. Obviously, none of them will get in, but I’m glad to see Cumberbatch at least being pushed in Supporting. It would be a nice reward to get a deserving nom for a banner year (with AOC, Fifth Estate, Hobbit, and 12 Years a Slave).

Probably so they can emphasize on Ian McKellen seeing how he did get nominated for the first LOTR movie.

He has Rush this year, too, which I could imagine sneaking in as a possible nominee.
