One of the most anticipated films of the year.

But critics feel the almost family friendly certification of it means it feels more Suicidal Squib than a Suicide Squad.

Margot Robbie and Viola Davis do seem to be avoiding most of the negative criticism. Cara Delevingne does not.

So disappointed. At least Margo Robbie’s getting raves though.

Shit. Was really hoping this was gonna be good, I thought the fact that Snyder wasn’t involved would have helped it a lot

I screened it tonight for critics in my city, and I enjoyed it! Margot Robbie is so electrifying every time she is on the screen, Jared Leto is completely underused, and critics are right about Cara (terrible villain! Think of something better for this huge movie).

All in all, still a fun time at the movies!

The way I see it is that critics and audiences will never agree on every film. I respect their opinions, but there are still some critics who really liked it, and I’ve seen four star reviews for the film.

Critics fawned over Mad Max, which I didn’t get, but then were lukewarm over Ghostbusters and Finding Dory, both of which I loved! It’s just one of those things.

I still intend to see it, and hope Margot Robbie really is as good as the reviews say (and the trailer depicts). Also looking forward to Davis’ character too following the reviews.

What are you talking about? Finding Dory got VERY few negative reviews from critics. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/finding_dory/

This is disheartening. I’ll still see it because I like a lot of that cast and it looks fun. I’m not sure what’s happening with the DC Universe, but after this one, I will be wary of future films like “Justice League” and “Wonder Woman,” until I hear good things. I haven’t seen “Man of Steel” or “BVS,” so maybe someone can answer this, but why is there an insistence on making the DC Universe movies so dark? Part of the appeal and success of Marvel is that the films are a good balance of serious and self-aware, comical and emotional. From what I’ve heard, that’s not the case with the DC movies, including “Suicide Squad,” which seems tailor made for that balance of dark and light. As I’m already growing weary of superhero movies, I’m pretty tempted to ignore future DC films after this one.

The film’s positive points were always going to be Robbie and Davis.

Well, the Nolan trilogy films are widely accepted as the best superhero movies made this century (save for some Marvel fanatics) and those were darker than BvS and Suicide Squad. The issue is more to do with lack of tonal awareness, miscasting (Delevingne and Eisenburg respectively), and inconsistent plotting.

I correctly predicted that Suicide Squad would not be good, but every time I said it, a DC fanatic would insult me as if their life depended on it. You can see the incoherence from the trailer. I’m very proud of that achievement and I am going around telling everyone I called it. I act like Donald Trump but I don’t care. I am proud that I am not oblivious to not see a film crashing and burning. I had correctly called the same for Fantastic 4 and Batman v. Superman, and I call the same on Justice League, since everyone but Jason Momoa looks like a cosplayer at Comic Con in this trailer. Plus, the audiences will have grown tired of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, seeing her thrice in a year and a half. Her solo film is the only hopeful upcoming release for DC, but I got a strong romance vibe from the trailer (which is bad), between Gadot and Chris Pine (whose character is laughable, a f*cking caricature.).

    As for Suicide Squad…

Cara Delevingne is not a good villain, and I do not understand the raves for Margot Robbie. I found her pathetic, and while I applaud her for earning this role and ending her typecast as the bimbo, I feel like she acts as if she is one in this film. But it’s not her fault.

Jared Leto was funny as the Joker. I mean that literally. I laughed at his performance. Nothing ‘menacing’ about that. Ledger’s and Nicholson’s shadows were cast on him ever since his casting, though. He was the only actor under pressure, since he was not bringing a character to life for the first time. So, it’s not his fault either.

DC made the same mistake they have made throughout the years. They hire wonderful actors, Academy Award winners and nominees, and they give them a VERY BAD SCREENPLAY, thinking that it will work just because it features great actors.

Robbie and Leto had potential. (DeLevingne didn’t, really.) But the material was horrendous.

Joel Kinnaman and Viola Davis are the solid performances of the film. But that’s where it ends.

You don’t get to judge if your film is good – your audience does. I believe that DC is the single one at fault here for hyping this release as if it was the best film ever made. For example, when Will Smith goes out and says that he never met Jared Leto during the filming, only the Joker, you expect a f*cking breath-taking Joker.

I really wanted to like Suicide Squad. I did. But, I couldn’t.

Audiences want more than the wow factor, DC. And while it was enjoyable, you can’t convince us by dressing Margot Robbie in very, very tight shorts.

Oh. Reviews I read were largely lukewarm on the film. Interesting to see it so high on RT. Though aren’t 3 star reviews classed as fresh on RT? 3 stars to me is lukewarm.
