Absolutely Anne Hathaway. Interesting, but I’m moved more about her ‘silent’ scenes, than her big number. She captured this character pretty well and deserved her Oscar without a doubt. With both this role and “The Dark Knight Rises” she was easily the  Supporting Actress of the year. I’m so proud of her, and I don’t even care about her thirsty campaigning, because no matter what, her performance was the best and she deserved that Oscar.

For the runner up, I would put Amanda Seyfried. Her last scene with Jackman and Redmayne, also her performance during “Heart Full of Love” are both masterpeaces in acting. She’s so underrated it hurts. All “Mean Girls” “Chloe” “Les Misérables” and “Lovelace” are awesome performances by her. Some of them are even Oscar-worthy.

Samantha Barks is a powerful singer. She has some nice scenes in “Les Misérables” and her death scene is emotional, but she cannot be mentioned on the same page in acting as the former two.

Samantha Barks should have been nominated.

To me the best performances came from the young actors. Eddie Redmayne, Samantha Barks, Aaron Tveit, and my vote, Amanda Seyfried.

The people campaigning for Les Miserables did Samantha Barks a disservice in not trying to push for a nomination for her.

    Remember the other four nominees

    Amy Adams “The Master”
    Sally Field “Lincoln”
    Helen Hunt “The Sessions”
    Jackie Weaver “Silver Linings Playbook”

If they wouldv’e tried a little they couldv’e easily pushed one of these ladies out easily.

    I vote Gosford Park next.

I don’t know. I think Seyfried was way closer. But if anyone would’ve make it over Jacki Weaver or Amy Adams, it would’ve been Maggie Smith, Nicole Kidman or Ann Dowd.

It’s nice that people bumping up older polls, but this is the actual one, so please comment on this instead. Thanks. (Tom asked me not to have that many polls bumped up on the page, so as this is the actual one, only comment here).

I enjoyed the movie for the most part, but I think they gave Eponine’s character the shaft – her story is given more priority and passion onstage, and I think Barks did as well as she could, but Hathaway’s Fantine was given the star-treatment.  Both characters overshadow Cosette although Seyfried capably handled that role.
