I’ve been thinking… If Chiwetel Ejiofor loses in this category, he will a double-loser or something like that considering that he’s nominated in two categories, the other one belonging to Michael Douglas (without a doubt). Do you guys think HFPA will take that in consideration?

Cate Blanchett is defintely winning Best Actress in a Leading Role – Drama. Now there is no doubt in my mind. The only uncertainties are: 12 Years a Slave or Gravity? Meryl Streep or Amy Adams?

Picture Comedy/Musical: American Hustle (what else?)
Actor Comedy/Musical: Leonardo DiCaprio, The Wolf of Wall Street (finally)
Actress Comedy/Musical: Meryl Streep, August: Osage County (Amy Adams win would be too good to be true, and Streep deserves it)
Picture Drama: Gravity (quirky, sci-fi; 12 Years… is too obvious)
Actor Drama: Chiwetel Ejiofor, 12 Years a Slave (Hollywood FOREIGN Press Association… New boy on the block)
Actress Drama: Cate Blanchett, Blue Jasmine (unbeatable)
Supporting Actor: Jared Leto, Dallas Buyers Club (default – what a boring category)
Supporting Actress: Jennifer Lawrence, American Hustle (has to get one acting award – this is the most obvious choice)

12 Years has 7 nominations that has to count for something in Ejiofor’s favor.
