I just heard that The Founder has pushed back it’s release date to to awards season with a December 16th release date. Harvey must think he has something with this one. I am hoping something for Keaton this year. Really thought he deserved it for Birdman.

I don’t think that this will make much of a dent at the Oscars. Maybe Keaton? The Best Actor race already seems pretty crowded, though.

I wouldn’t think it would make much of a dent either. About the only thing would be Keaton I am guessing. I think it might be more than Globes Fodder, Globes nominations are December 10….I am sure it will be screened for them early though…who knows…I just thought it was curious Weinstein moving the date to the middle of December. I think Keaton getting the nom will be the battle.

Keaton looks solid enough. Trailer felt really basic throughout. I have little to no confidence in this low-rent director.

The Blind Side looked like Globes fodder too. Or Daytime Emmy fodder. Of course, that was a popular sports movie that had the box office numbers to support it; let’s see how many people want to see a movie about McDonalds.

First reviews are out. Seems like the film itself, as expected, doesn’t reach potential heights due to its meh director. But notices for Michael Keaton and Robert Siegel’s screenplay seem strong. Guy Lodge compares it to a striking “moral parable for the Trump Era.” In other words, watch out for Mr. Keaton. He’s coming for that fifth slot.

Just like he did for Spotlight. Can’t wait!

Different year, different circumstances, and you damn well know that. More reviews like this position Keaton into the Lead Actor race.

Yeah different circumstances, apparently his movie does not stand a chance to get a BP nomination, let alone a win.

None of that is required for Keaton to get into the final five, or if he’s seen as being overdue, win. We’ll see what the critical and commercial outlooks are soon enough.

Given these reviews and the sparseness of Lead Actor, I’m really liking Keaton’s chances at a nomination now. With the likes of Affleck and Washington, he’s unlikely to contend for the win, but I’d certainly feel more comfortable predicting Keaton for a nod than say, Beatty. Maybe even Garfield.
