Why isn’t anyone talking about this amazing movie/musical?
I understand the critics didn’t really like it but I haven’t really read any of their reviews. Anyone have anything to enlighten me?
The music in this is amazing, and it’s a very colorful and aesthetically pleasing film, but there is barely a script here and the acting is Disney level at it’s brightest. Jackman and Ferguson pop the most, the rest range from being nice, competent and just existing. The best chance for anything to hit would be in Original Song or Design.
It was an entertaining film. But its barely there plot was a mess. Michelle Williams was extremely miscast, Efron’s storyline was non existent, his romance with Zendaya’s character was pushed too quickly, it just ended up being unbelieveable and funny to watch. Some other actors were pretty bad too.
It has some nice songs and some very impressive musical moments, but not enough to save the film from its awful writing.
Audio was pretty bad too in several parts, Hugh Jackman’s voice sounded awful sometimes as a result.
Screw the critics, I really enjoyed this movie. It’s not “best film of the year” but it was really entertaining and I liked watching it.
The Greatest Showman isn’t a “critics film” seeing as how it has 55% on RT from critics but is in the 90% range from the audiences.
