The initial news I’d been hearing about this film had me thinking it would be one of Harvey’s bigger Oscar players for the year, and the trailer does seem to reflect that. While I’m not too intimately familiar with Turing’s work, this appears to be be potential cat-nip for voters. Influential figure, inspiring work in winning WWII, closeted homosexual persecuted at the tail end of his life…

Quite excited now. Morten Tyldum is coming off of Headhunters, and it looks like he’s doing wonders with the cast (particularly Cumberbatch, Goode, and Charles Dance).

This can get some Oscar recognition..Benedict Cumberbatch is as always playing a genius and his is just always superb even in weaker films but still.

Maybe Keira Knightley will have a shot at supporting actress. After A Dangerous Method and Anna Karenina, I’d given up on predicting her for a while.

Hopefully Knightley has some baitier scenes in this film. It seems like the type of character to get a nomination.

Yes they are only showing intense whispers of words of encouragement. Very lame. If they can show off her pleading or enraged then she can pull that off.

This film’s script doesn’t seem very fresh.

^Well, hopefully they get it out of the way now. Anything written right now will be totally forgotten by nomination time. I have high hopes for this, and even though I’m not sure if it can win, I think it’s certainly on track for a big nomination total.

Saw this yesterday and it’s bloody brilliant.

Could easily be another stuffy British period drama but it’s funny and touching and tragic and all round brilliantly done. Cumberbatch it s shoo in for a nom and I suspect Kiera can make it as well.

Some of the objections above are true as well as some of the dialogue being clumsy and the plotting contrived but over all it’s a job really well done. Expect nominations galore.

Oooo, I’m excited to see it now!! I’m hoping it will be really good!  I’m currently predicting it to win Best Picture.
