LION is amazing and truly one of the best movies of 2016. Superb direction, a wonderful story (with a terrific script), great acting performances, thrilling camera work, editing, a beautiful score… I give the film an A+!

I am predicting 5 Oscar nominations and wish it would be 8. Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Dev Patel), Supporting Actress (Nicole Kidman), Adapted Screenplay and Original Score are the categories I predict nominations; I would love it if it also got in for Best Director, Best Cinematography and Best Film Editing but I am not predicting those categories.

In a sane world Dev Patel would WIN in his category. He gives a stunning fully realized performance. I know he won’t win but I believe he absolutely should. Nicole Kidman should give Viola Davis a run for the gold as well but Davis is a lock to win this year.

Sunny Pawer is terrific too and it brings up that there absolutely ought to be a younger actor/actress Oscar for performers under 20 years old. Jacob Tremblay would have won a richly deserved Oscar last year and Lucas Hedges would win this year if there was such a category and Sunny Pawer would certainly be a nominee.

I haven’t said much about the story since that is one of the great pleasures of this remarkable movie. I hope everyone goes to see this amazing movie! (: A+!!!!
