    For me it’s

    3. “Murder on the Orient Express”
I love 1974 original, especially Lumet’s direction, over-the-top performances, costumes and amazing score. I hope Kenneth Branagh will bring something new and interesting to the story, even though I’d rather have one of less known Christie whodunits to be adapted on-screen.

    2. “Downsizing”
I’m hopeful for this new story from Alexander Payne (usually adapting but this time it’s original). Synopsis make it sound, IMO, as “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” meeting “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” which could be accurate or not at all. Matt Damon and Kristen Wiig are very promising leads for this project.

    1. “Mother”
Darren Aronofsky can direct fascinating movies, even if “Noah”, the most recent film of his, is… not that. I hope the best for this intriguing title, hopefully a change of pace for Jennifer Lawrence that we all wished for her and great roles for Javier Bardem and especially Michelle Pfeiffer (who is also in “…Orient Express”, I’m all for 2017 being her year).

    What are yours?

I try not to anticipate too much, as there will always be times when it inevitably ends in disappointment. That said, I can’t help awaiting:

Annihilation, Alex Garland’s next project after Ex Machina
    – P.T. Anderson’s untitled London fashion project with Daniel Day-Lewis
    Blade Runner 2049 because, duh

Edit: Oh, and I can’t wait to see Gary Oldman play Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour. Also Emma Stone’s playing tennis champ Billie Jean King in Battle of the Sexes; perhaps this could be her Oscar win if she loses for La La Land.

And Chiwetel Ejiofor and Tahar Rahim (from A Prophet) have me interested in this as well. But I’m cautious because biblical films nowadays tend to suck ass. I haven’t seen Lion yet so I don’t know what to expect from Garth Davis as a director.

It may not be an Oscar contender, but I am so excited for Beauty and the Beast! Although Emma Watson as Belle still makes me cringe, especially after hearing her :30 clip of “Something There.”
