Today, The Guardian have published an article asking if the prequel to Snow White & The Huntsman, to be geniously titled ‘The Huntsman’ (see what they did there?), is the most pointless film follow up of all time.
But is it? What to you is the most pointless film follow up of all time? Any prequel, sequel and whatever other ‘-equel’ are in the mix for this.
Some ideas to start you off: Titanic 2, Grease 2, The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas, S. Darko, The Hangover 2/3, Hannibal.March 20, 2015 at 6:10 am #183021
Dumb and Dumberer is amazingly bad. But my vote goes to X-Men Origins a Wolverine. The lowest point of the X-Men Franchise so far (and hopefully ever).March 20, 2015 at 9:41 am #183022
Any sequel to Leprechaun comes to mind. (I love the first one though).March 20, 2015 at 9:46 am #183023
“The Exorcist 2” (though the third one is vastly underrated)>March 20, 2015 at 2:51 pm #183024

‘Son of the Mask’. I mean, really, need I say more?March 20, 2015 at 5:29 pm #183026
There are some obvious recent blockbusters that come to mind, but really the most unnecessary sequels were the ones for great, older films (especially when the original casts didn’t return). I’m talking The Sting II, the Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid prequel and sequel (the f?) and things of that ilk. And then there’s stuff like the French Connection and Chinatown sequels which just seem really unneeded, but they do have the original stars and I haven’t seen them so I won’t judge. Also, any direct-to-DVD sequel is the definition of pointless.March 20, 2015 at 10:02 pm #183027
Another potential contender for pointless sequel is the upcoming London has Fallen. I even liked the original Olympus has Fallen, but talk about pointless.March 21, 2015 at 4:36 pm #183030
Any direct-to-DVD sequel is the definition of pointless.
Not really because they get good money from undiscerning fans without inflicting themselves on mainstream culture. I’m all for them.
Hmm, well when you put it that way…March 22, 2015 at 11:15 am #183031
The Two Jakes was bloody awful. Such a disappointment.
