This is one of my most anticipated films of the year, and if I were to honestly say what I’m most excited about, #1 would be Lubezki’s cinematography. Second would be the cast, particularly DiCaprio and Hardy.

My most anticipated movie of 2014. Leo is and will always be my favorite actor. Pairing him with Inarritu, one of my favorite directors, Lubezki & Hardy? Home run. Like I said, Leo is my early #1 for next year’s Best Actor Oscar. And a movie shot with only natural light? Chivo going for his third oscar in three years, if he wins this year for Birdman.
I can see the movie playing at AFI or NYFF.

Well, if Keaton manages to win the Oscar for BIRDMAN, then I don’t see any reason why Leo could not win for this…
    _________

It looks like another sure nom for Lubezki, next year he could face fellow mexican cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto (Scorsese’s SILENCE)… imagine how crazy if would be if ‘El Chivo’ wins this year and makes it 3 in a row in 2016 for this!!!

Of course you would have to be the one to create this thread hahaha! Love you Macbeth!

I hope Tom Hardy pulls off a JK Simmons and sweeps the race. This guy earns it. My boy DiCaprio is safe for a nomination (for now) but a victory is not all that likely unless his performance is really undeniable and his competition not as strong.

DiCaprio’s eventual Oscar vehicle will not be on paper an Oscar vehicle. The very projects he tends to avoid will be the very one to get him the coveted statuette.

One movie that is absolutely on its way to a top slot on the next contender countdown is Alejandro González Iñárritu’s “The Revenant.”  The extended footage began with title cards reminding viewers this is a true story and that Iñárritu and cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki have spent months bringing Michael Punke’s novel to life by shooting in the remote wilderness and only in natural light.  DiCaprio and Tom Hardy were the only two recognizable cast members, but this dark frontiersman tale seems both epic and intimate at the same time.  “The Revenant” looks harrowing and painful. If the cast and crew went through an ordeal filming it the audience is going to feel their pain. Overall, the movie simply looks stunning and you wonder if it’s too early to start hyping Lubezki as a potential three-time Oscar winner. One particular shot finds the camera strapped either to the side or leg of DiCaprio as he rides horseback into battle. It’s an iconic image, but would we expect any less from Iñárritu and Chivo?

I pick my horses right! Imma use my Derbyite of The Year Award influence to heavily campaign for DiCaprio, Hardy, Lubezki, Mirrione, Inárritu and the entire cast and crew! Get ready ’cause The Revenant Slayage Express is coming on board!
