In all honesty, the best horror movie in decades. It’s sort of a shame it won’t be released until 2016, I’m worried the anticipation will have waned by then and A24’s apparent plan to do a day/date release with DirecTV ensures that the vast majority of its viewers won’t witness the theatrical experience of it (which I find a real bummer given how amazing it is). But it’ll play in TIFF, and if they ever decide to do a late 2015 release I think it can get some awards attention.
Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson and Kate Dickie are all nomination worthy in it, and I think the film would earn attention in categories like Director, Cinematography, Editing, Sound Mixing and Score as well.
Dagmer Cleftjaw and crazy-assed Lysa Arryn!
That trailer is too much for me. No WAY I’ll be seeing this. Just, no way.
I have to say, the cast and the screenplay looks like they’re unapologetic. I hope it does well simply for the sake of this oft overlooked genre,
I just saw this film today & absolutely loved it. Skilful direction, cold and effective cinematography, and committed performances from the entire cast. Hopefully it gets some awards recognition later this year!
I loved this movie. The score, the screenplay, the performances, the GOAT… better than It Follows and just as good as The Babadook.
A big disappointment. I hate the politics of the film, the messy mise en scene and the laughable ending. Typical overrated Sundance hit.
I thought the cinematography was nice, and I appreciated what they were going for with the story and direction style, but I found it way overhyped. I much preferred It Follows, Unfriended, and The Babadook as innovative, smart, compelling horror movies of recent years.
