Put aside, for a moment, the fact that  James Bond  works for MI6, rather than MI5 and let’s just assume that the Secret Service’s new  “no tattoos” policy  will apply across the board, affecting anyone who wants to add “top secret spy” to their C.V.

The news comes as MI5 release their new job specifications which warns
that tattoos on the hands, forearms, neck or face would make potential
    recruits unsuitable.

This of course, would rule out the best men ever to reach 007 status, Sean Connery and Daniel Craig, but what about the next Bond?

Idris Elba currently leads the odds
to replace Craig (he’s at 7/4 if you fancy a punt) and is well known
for his hand and body tattoos, while two other actors touted to take
over all boast ink of their own (Tom Hardy at 3/1 is covered, while Orlando Bloom at 6/1 has some Lord Of The Rings ink).

Which means, according to MI5’s new policy, the next man to risk life and limb for Queen and country has to be the tattoo-free Michael Fassbender (at 6/1).

Frankly, we’ve always suspected he was the right man for the job.

For the time being, of course, Daniel Craig has Spectre on his plate, (released later this year) plus one remaining Bond film on his contract, which we’re unlikely to see until 2017 at the earliest.

Let’s hope Fassbender keeps his schedule clear.

Who’s really going to be next?

I started a thread about the next and new Bond and it was Tom Hardy headlining it. It’s got to be around here somewhere.

So tattoos, which can become cancerous, is out. But commercial cigarettes on a poster is ok. Very Bondish.

I would love to see Fassbender in this role, he would be such an interesting Bond. My top pick would still be Elba though. He just is terrific and could do wonders for the role. I hope that they can get around the fear of the public not accepting a Black Bond, and they give him a chance.

I hope if Idris Elba is selected as the next Bond, that it is based on his TALENT, and not the colour of his skin, so the producers can tick the diversity box.

I’d love Idris Elba to become new James Bond but I don’t think it’s ever gonna happen. Why? Because producers would lose so much money in markets such as Russia or China. They’re pretty big markets and let’s just say Russians aren’t the most tolerant people in the world. lol

But he still could play villain. And we know Bond’s villains are pretty baity characters. Even more so than the Bond himself.

Of course, the Black man would only be good for the villain (or sidekick). ***side eyes***

^ I hope it’s not a dig at me but the producers. They’re to blame. Them and big overseas markets.

I love Fassy, love Hardy even more, but when I heard that Sony was strongly considering Elba, it just felt right. He has that smooth, sexy charm, he can do the fighting and action, and he has the chops to pull off the drama and add gravitas. My ranking of preference would be Elba, Fassy, Hardy (love Hardy, but he doesn’t feel very James Bond to me).

The producers need to respect the character created by Ian Flemming as was intended to be: A charming and lethal british man.

Elba would be a great choice but I really doubt it would happen for the reason Sasha said (well said btw). He would be my first choice replacement though. Thinking of people that can play the world’s favorite super spy is tough becuase the actor has to have a certain cool factor to him so I could only come up with 7 people.
1)Tom Hardy (This is probably one of the obvious choices but he just strikes me as a guy who would have a Bond similair to Craig)
2)Jeremy Irvine (Too young? Maybe. But he would be a good choice)
3)Richard Madden (He could pull off the role well but again: too young?)
4)Chris Evans (He could bring a whole new vibe to the role. Plus, all the Marvel viewers).
5)Chiwetel Ejiofor (Probably not a contender but just imagine what he could do).
6)Henry Cavill (A choice that could either be really good or a one time deal…..could go either way)
7)Rupert Friend (ditto what I said for Cavill)

I had this conversation with a friend a few months back, and I feel the same way.

Btw I wonder how the Fleming estate/family is reacting to all of this? If I recall it wasnt good.
