I meant that the allegations against Woody Allen have been very much in the public eye since 1992, with renewed interest since 2014.

    Allegations or allegation?

    People are dumb.

Not sure why he is working with Woody Allen though.

Duh. He wants to work with the guy who made Annie Hall and Hannah and Her Sisters.

But regardless, I can’t join the Woody Allen haterade. When one looks at his case OBJECTIVELY, there’s plenty of reasonable doubt. Not saying he’s definitely not guilty, just reasonable doubt. I get yelled at online every time I say that.

Yes. Based on the amount of yelling around Woody, you would think he’s involved in a number of allegations. There is one, which was looked at criminally, investigated, and did not find him guilty. The story is shady. Anyone who’s been around a situation of parental alienation (as I unfortunately have, with two people very close to me) knows there are elements that at least point in that direction. Dylan’s brother (not Ronan) has already accused Mia of manipulating Dylan for years. Also you would have to have a very low opinion of Soon Yi to believe she’d marry a guy who did what he’s accused of, considering she was around. Obviously I feel sorry for Dylan and it’s not easy to dismiss an accusation like this, but the holes in the story are not small, you can find many discussions online. Pedophiles almost never strike only once, as proven by numerous studies and stats — I repeat: there’s only been this one allegation with Woody, unless you count the ridiculous recent stories about his diaries (breaking news: artists have obsessions; his are transparent in his work). I also feel sorry for the family Woody built with Soon Yi, with two daughters who have probably experienced a lot of judgment in their lives.

I honestly can’t even tell if teridax is being serious or just mocking the kinds of people who would react like that, and it’s driving me bonkers.

    ——————

At any rate, I think it’s a bit premature to be dragging any of the Rainy Day cast. They’re still caught up in last season’s film cycle. I wouldn’t be surprised if some/all of them refuse to promote the film, donate their salaries, and/or outright denounce the project. But none of that will happen until attention is shifted from 2017’s films to 2018’s projects.

My gut tells me the film is going to be very quietly released and that none of the stars will promote it. We’ll get some “I didn’t know when I signed the contract, and now that I do know I wish I’d never done it” type statements and they’ll all wash their hands of it… which is pretty much the best they can do now that it’s already been filmed.

Um, of course I am completely serious. What do you mean “kind of people,” you mean people who have the integrity to call out enablers of sexual predators every bit as much as the sexual predators themselves? If so, YES I am that kind of person, and proud of it. Like I said, if Timothee and the rest of the cast donated their salaries to fighting sexual abuse I would forgive them. I hope you’re right about the cast not promoting the film at the very least, since that is what Chloe Grace Moretz and Charlie Day did when the allegations against Louis C.K. broke into the mainstream. But with C.K., it seemed like even that gross sexual shit was less out in the open than the Woody Allen stuff! How do they all not realize that appearing in a film written and directed by a child molester is a bad idea, let alone the casts of Wonder Wheel, Cafe Society, Magic In The Moonlight, Irrational Man, and Blue Jasmine, etc.

I was actually going to “yell” (really just point out all the facts and evidence) at you about the overwhelming evidence of Woody being a pedophile. There was some shit he did with Mariel Hemingway as well. https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2015/03/woody-allen-mariel-hemingway-manhattan

Also, I highly doubt it was just Dylan Farrow (who has told her story, unaltered, for over the past 20 years) he raped, but she is the only one to have come forward and made headlines.

Wow, I was going to say why I wasn’t going to reply to you, but there I just did it anyway. Can’t resist telling it like it is. Interesting Vox article “Why Woody Allen Hasn’t Been Toppled By The #MeToo Reckoning – Yet” I cannot recommend enough for you to read. https://www.vox.com/culture/2018/1/11/16635446/woody-allen-dylan-farrow-mia-ronan-sexual-assault-allegation-metoo

The fact all these people have worked with Woody over the years is because Hollywood deep down knows the kind of person and mother Mia Farrow is. Now they all have to “say the right thing” for the moment and show very inauthentic regret. Sure. At some point the overreaction has to come to a reasonable place. Anyone who was in a movie set thirty years ago can claim than X actor touched their knees for two seconds, it traumatized them for life and that actor suddenly goes to a moral blacklist. The real serious stories of assault get lost in the mix of a bunch of crap (frankly, some of the stuff described in the Franco story from yesterday, for instance).

This story, however disgusting, isn’t illegal. It’s the kind of story that us foreigners look from the outside thinking “only in America this would get journalistic coverage so many years after the fact”.

This isn’t right. Sorry, but it isn’t. You can’t say “I highly doubt she was the only one”. That’s casting a shadow that is uncalled for. Are we at a point where we don’t even need accusations anymore?

The reason all of Hollywood has worked with Woody Allen all these years is the same reason they have been willing to work with Roman Polanski and grateful to work with Harvey Weinstein: They are hypocritical fakes who don’t care about the victims of the monsters they work with in order to “get ahead” in the industry. That is the plain, simple, and tragic truth. 🙁

Seriously, the Woody Allen allegations have OBJECTIVELY more evidence supporting them than those against Gary Oldman, whose allegations you have curiously been more than happy to believe. I choose to believe both of their accusers, but I can’t help finding it odd you would question the credibility of a daughter with literally everything to lose and nothing to gain by coming forward about her trauma, but not question at all one disgruntled ex-wife (who I believe) of Oldman’s about the abuse (not sexual like Woody’s but physical abuse obviously sucks too) she claimed to have suffered.

Here’s a detailed blog of the “other side”. It’s at the very least reasonable doubt. https://ronanfarrowletter.wordpress.com/

Regardless, I think Dylan Farrow is definitely a victim here. But probably not Woody’s victim.

Quick trivia: Did you know not one but THREE of Mia’s adopted children have already died? And I didn’t hear about this until…today. Someone had to point out the story to me. Something at least smells fishy here.

Fine then. I was going off of what you said about pedophiles almost never striking once, but let’s saying Woody is one of the exceptions to the rule then. I’d actually prefer that.

Ronan Farrow deserves the Pulitzer Prize for his consistently on-point journalism not only in helping to expose Harvey, but for helping his sister tell her truth. She has never wavered from her stories, all Mia was trying to do was protect her daughter from more harm by divorcing Woody. She told the story to her mother when she was a child, I feel just as sorry for her as anyone who doesn’t see the mountain of evidence against Woody by this point. He is O.J. Simpson levels of guilty by now. Like O.J., many people will still point to conspiracies or simply be skeptical even when reality is staring at them right in the face about one of their heroes being a genuine monster.

If there was “mountains of evidence” against Woody, why was he NEVER even charged with a crime? Mia is a white, rich, famous woman who could have the cache to push through with it and if he was guilty, he would’ve been convicted, I’m sure.

My problem with Oldman goes beyond allegations as I am not the police. It’s a matter of character. As I said, in the Dylan case, there was an investigation, which people choose to ignore. I agree with the poster who said she is victim, but most likely not his

The stuff described in the Franco stories is legit disgusting and sexual abuse: Him shoving a woman’s head to his exposed dick, him forcing actresses to not wear protective plastic around their vaginas during simulated oral sex scenes, him stalking underage girls, him improvising full nude scenes with women without their full consent (ala Bertolucci and Brando for Last Tango In Paris), etc. The list keeps going on and on and at least some of it has got to be illegal, surely enough for Franco to be kicked out of his powerful position in Hollywood. Where’s your empathy for those women?
