    ^

Two of us now have mentioned Take Shelter, mentioning both Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain. They each have an Oscar nom to their name but for the wrong films. Michael Shannon in Take Shelter was much more deserving than Oldman and Bichir and would hae served nice competition with Dujardin, Pitt and Clooney. And in my opinion, Chastain was the best of the five nominated Supporting Actresses (much harder role to pull off) but had she been nominated for Take Shelter, I feel like it too should have been a cakewalk. And poor Jeff Nichols getting snubbed for that Original Screenplay…As every year, there’s a reminder that awards shows don’t get it right and aren’t everything. For proof this year all one has to do is watch Take Shelter and We Need to Talk About Kevin and it all makes sense. Bitter, party of one. Over it now though. Shannon and Chastain will have their day. 🙂
