You’re right, but that’s an exception. I don’t understand why at least the most popular and acclaimed foreign language films of the year (The Square, BPM, A Fantastic Woman, Raw, Thelma, Loveless, Foxtroot…) aren’t added in Best Picture.

What if what we might think is truly the best of the year also happens to be what is being predicted? Lady Bird and Get Out are my Top 2 favorite films of the year, and those movies are currently doing well in Goldderby odds.

How is that possible when the options are incredibly limited?
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 2, 2018 at 5:39 pm #1202454014I was disappointed that BPM (Beats per Minute) wasn’t available in more categories besides Best Foreign Language Film, such as Best Picture, Best Director (Robin Campillo), Best Actor (Nahuel Perez Biscayard), Best Supporting Actor (Anaud Valois), Best Supporting Actress (Adele Haenel), Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing – all of which would have made my top 3 in those categories.

This is just criminal. These two are EASILY the best cinematography works in American cinema this year.
By the way, vote for these two in as many categories as possible

Raw should definitely at least be included for Lead Actress Garance Marillier. She was fantastic in the lead role and I wish more people were talking about her performance. Ella Rumpf was also great and memorable as Alexia, her sister. I wish Raw was getting more recognition in general this awards season. For now, all I can do is hope that the Saturn Awards at least nominate such a unique and interesting horror film for “Best International Film.”

Bria Vinaite? That’s one of the nastiest performances of the year. Daniela who?
