Just like I did last year, I am hosting my own Goldderby-voted awards for film of 2012. The second annual Trenty’s are now in session.
View last year’s results here.
Changed from last year: I will now be calculating each Best Picture category the same way the Oscars do, with anywhere between 5-10 nominees.
Here are the rules: PM me your ballot.
-10 for each picture category (i.e Best Picture, Best Comedy Picture, etc.), 5 for every other category.
-Only films released IN THEATERS (no festivals, special screenings, straight-to-DVD) during 2012 are eligible.
-You may place actors in any category (lead/supporting) based on your own judgement.
-For Comedy categories, use the Golden Globes’ placement as a guide.
-You may vote in as many or as little categories as you like.
-Voice-over performances ARE allowed in main acting categories.
-Although you don’t HAVE to fill all 5-10 slots per category, I recommend it. Unlike with the Oscars, every contender that you place on your ballot will be helped (not just your first place choices), every single vote you make counts.
Note: I have removed last years’ controversial Best Independent Picture category and replaced it with a better-titled category.
Most importantly: do not let the choices of Oscar, Globe, SAG, Critics Choice, BAFTA, etc. affect your vote. Vote only based on the films you have seen and the aspects of those films that you deem worthy.
Deadline for Nomination Ballots: January 19, 2013 (one week from today).
