WGA nominations will be announced tomorrow.

Remember The Theory of Everything, Selma and Birdman are NOT eligible for this award.

As I see it the top contenders for Original Screenplay are:

    Boyhood
    Foxcatcher
    The Grand Budapest Hotel
    A Most Violent Year
    Love is Strange
    Nightcrawler
    Whiplash

And the top contenders for Adapted Screenplay:

    American Sniper
    Gone Girl
    The Imitation Game
    Inherent Vice
    Into the Woods
    Still Alice
    Unbroken
    Wild
    Guardians of the Galaxy

I’d be amazed to see a film that’s NOT listed above get a nom

I can’t find any sources saying that Birdman is ineligible. Mr Turner is however.

I am your source. Birdman was not an option on the ballot I submitted yesterday.

Is “The Imitation Game” really eligible? These British productions are usually out of the running here.

Had no idea Birdman was ineligible.

    Predix:

    Boyhood
    Foxcatcher
    The Grand Budapest Hotel
    Nightcrawler
    Whiplash

Would love to see A Most Violent Year in Foxcatcher’s place.

    American Sniper
    Gone Girl
    The Imitation Game
    Inherent Vice
    Wild

Awards Daily are even predicting Birdman for WGA! Either they’re wrong or mystery1501 missed it on the ballot (or there was a misprint). I guess we’ll find out tomorrow, as I can’t imagine Birdman will miss out if it’s eligilble.

Or what if it is, and an administrative error has left it off all the ballots? That would be embarrassing lol.

Yes, The Imitation Game was on the ballot. Mr. Turner was not. And Whiplash was listed under Original Screenplay, unlike with the Academy where it’s listed as Adapted because it’s *technically* based on a short film.

And I don’t think the Birdman omission is a clerical error. Unlike the other guilds, WGA voters were not sent Birdman screeners/scripts.

Possibility for a Lego Movie Original Screenplay nom? Is that eligible?

Unfortunately no, I don’t see The Lego Movie on the ballot.

It seems “Inherent Vice” is completely dead.

    “Guardians of the Galaxy” lol.

    There’s “Whiplash” in Original Screenplay.

“American Sniper” is coming on strong in the home stretch. Time to reconsider both Eastwood and Cooper.

Massive blow to Inherent Vice. Guardians of the Galaxy?? Seriously??

Otherwise a very predictable set of nominees (mostly due to the many ineligible scripts). Grand Budapest is probably winning original, with adapted a tight race between Gone Girl and Imitation Game.
