This thread could go for years, lol, but what are the Oscar nominees that you consider to have been hugely robbed?  That was hands down the most deserving and the best nominee but was unfairly overlooked in favor of another one?

    Some of mine are:

    1. Julianne Moore losing Best Actress  for  Far From Heaven  to Nicole Kidman in The Hours

    2. Lincoln  losing Best Picture to Argo

    3.  Emily Watson  in Breaking The Waves losing Best Actress to Frances McDormand in Fargo

Oprah Winfrey losing to Angelica Huston for Supporting Actress. Sorry, but I did not see the hype in Angelica’s performance.

Then he should have demanded co-writing credit, and I have a feeling that if he did have a great deal to do with the final script he would have. Can’t say he was robbed for ‘Playbook’, because that entire line-up was mediocre.

the russell screenpt was the best between the others.best timing and full of memorable funny dialogues and fantastic cractarization.
lincoln was slow and boring.life of pie was a medicore adaptation.i cant judge abot beasts of the southern wild because i havent read the book.and finaly argo was worst.imo perks of being a wallflower should  have be in this category.

I agree that it was the best of the bunch, but I’d have to think something is more than the top of a crappy heap to think it was robbed. It was a screenplay that was sometimes tonally off-putting, was ripe with cliches and had a flat supporting characters. I also can’t recall any of the dialogue. I remember Lawrence complaining about tea or something. That’s it.

Agree completely. The Perks of Being a Wall Flower was my best film of 2012 yet couldn’t even land an Adapted Screenplay nomination? Ridiculous.

For me, the robberies occur in the nominations than the wins. Even if I feel someone shouldn’t win (biggest most recent example to come to mind: Penelope Cruz over Viola Davis. That is a robbery.), I find validation in the nom being attached to their name.

    Robbed of nominations:
    – Lana Del Rey (Best Song), The Great Gatsby
    Mud (Original Screenplay)
    – John Hawkes, The Sessions
    – Samuel L. Jackson, Django Unchained
    – The Master (Original Screenplay)
    – Paul Dano, There Will Be Blood
    – Uma Thurman, Kill Bill: Vol. 2
    Kill Bill: Vol. 1. &  Vol. 2 – 0 noms.
    – Michelle Pfeiffer, White Oleander
    – Joan Allen, The Upside of Anger
    – Vera Farmiga, Down to the Bone
    – Laura Dern, Inland Empire
    – Naomi Watts, Mulholland Drive
    – Richard Gere, Chicago
    – Dennis Quaid, Far From Heaven

Before Sunset losing screenplay to Sideways.

Before Midnight losing screenplay to 12 Years a Slave.

    These

    Other than the ones mentioned,
    Michael Sheen for The Queen
    Sally Hawkins for Happy-Go-Lucky
Julianne Moore for A Single Man
Every nominee of that category losing to Lupita Nyong’o
