This is a bit of a morbid topic and I apologize.
This specific idea has always made me think. What if a certain actor/actress hadn’t died prematurely? What would their career have looked like nowadays
For example, if James Dean had lived, I think he would have become similar to Marlon Brando, winning two Academy Award and then living a reclusive lifestyle away from the public.
So what would
Heath Ledger (lets say in 20 years)
career be like if he/she was still alive and hadn’t died too soon?
Dorothy Dandridge probably would have gone the way of Diahann Carroll…one nomination and a respectable, albeit infrequent, later career.
I never thought James Dean was much of an actor, but I’m sure he would’ve won an Oscar at some point.
Marylin might have had a bit of a career, maybe been nominated or won an Oscar as an older, more serious actress. However, so much of her legacy is based on how her beauty and youth is frozen in time.
Peter Sellers might have gone on to do some really great work, but mainly staying consistent in his work.
John Belushi would have become a comedy God.
Elvis was actually becoming less and less relevant, so his death actually procurred his legacy.
John Candy? He might have done some cool things, but he also might have turned out like Steve Martin. What has he done lately?
Gilda Radner is harder to gauge. I can’t think of anyone who is in her hypothetical position.
Heath Ledger would be the best thing ever, and he and Ryan Gosling would have made Brokeback Mountain 2.0, which would have won twenty Oscars, and grossed $5 billion.
What if Natalie Wood had lived?
Dorothy Dandridge probably would have gone the way of Diahann Carroll
