July 5, 2014 at 9:26 pm #156120Chloe Moretz is undeniably one of the best young actresses right now; however, she has not been choosing the best projects and her name is slowly getting a bad name. She is the highlight of those poor films (Kick Ass 2, Carrie, and Laggies; she just seems to be in bad movies continually now. Is she going to be a huge star or is she sort of just going to disappear? She has showed us promise in films like Kick-Ass, Let Me In, and Hugo. She wowed us with her comedic chops in 30 Rock. SHe was wrongly snubbed. Where is she going with her career?
ReplyJuly 5, 2014 at 9:54 pm #156122Well who knows? She’s only what, fifteen years old? From the look of her upcoming projects, she’s angst-ridden, intense lead characters, scifi, working with Denzel Washington and Charlize Theron, and other terrific veterans and young promising actors. I liked Cutler’s The World According to Dick Cheney, Paquet-Brenner’s Sarah’s Key, Fuqua has his moments, and Blakeson is a bit of a mystery, although I enjoyed The Disappearance of Alice Creed, because of the cast and the quirky writing.
I suppose we’ll see how her films are received by audiences and paid ‘critics’, but I think she’s going to be just fine.

Don’t get me wrong she is my favorite actress. Any movie she is in I am there. I just want her to be the kind of actress that chooses great projects. She hasn’t been lately and I am just a tad worried. And I think she may be 17 years old now. She is growing up so fast from her small Big Mommas House days… haha

Well let’s hope it was just a run of bad luck and her upcoming films are better received. Lol. I’m pretty sure the prospect of Carrie was very enticing. The good news imo is, the cast and crew she’s worked with. As long as she’s not defecating in their cornflakes, it’s a nice network for her to garner support, and ideas.
ReplyCopy URLJuly 5, 2014 at 10:17 pm #156127I like her, she has potential. She really jumped out to me in ‘Kick-Ass’, and I thought she was good in ‘Hugo’ and excellent in ‘Let Me In’. I think Babypook is right- she’s young, and she has a lot of potentially interesting projects lined up; she’s probably fine.

July 6, 2014 at 12:00 am #156130Isn’t she in ‘Clouds of Sils Maria’? I think she got some good notices. I mean, just like with other young actors, it’s all about having the right timing and the right project and etc.
I always have to stop and think for a minute before differentiating between her and Abigail Breslin.

I agree with this – she just isn’t an interesting actress, and while she has tried to choose interesting projects, other girls in her age group (Taissa Farmiga, Saoirse Ronan) have a lot of range and actually can be believable in more adult films – I just can’t get past the fact that Moretz just seems like a Disney Channel star and I don’t think many of them are capable of being great actors.
