Oscar noms are tomorrow morning and i’ve been suffling a few of my categories around.

The last minute switch I made was adding in Jacob Tremblay. Supporting Actor is quite impossible to predict but I just have a feeling about Tremblay.

I dropped Sicario from Original Screenplay to put in Straight Outta Compton, and I dropped Bridge of Spies from Film Editing to put in Steve Jobs. Just on a hunch with both.

I just made too many to count! Among the notable ones, I took out Vikander from Lead and put her back in Supporting, I took out Room for screenplay and put in The Revenant, and I took out The Hateful Eight from Cinematography and put in Sicario.

I wanted to put in Tremblay, but that Supporting Actor category is turning into a bloodbath.

In the end, went with Dano, Elba, Ruffalo, Rylance and Stallone, with Shannon being a possible alternate. Wanted to go with Bane but figured maybe his performance wasn’t as showy as his past nominations.

Also switched out Ex Machina for Jurassic World in the visual effects category because I thought it may have resonated more with Academy voters, considering the number of makeshift velociraptor prank viral videos marketing the movie, and Ex Machina may not have registered too much on their radar (but I still predicted Vikander for Supporting Actress :D).

Also put in Kristen Stewart instead of Julie Walters (which I originally put), despite the latter having a BAFTA nom. Just for lolz. 🙂

I had Carol and Bridge of Spies with 9 nominations now I’m only predicting 5. Carol didn’t get ACE or PGA while the latter didn’t get Globe, Sag, Ace, or DGA. I think we might be overestimating Bridge of Spies.

I took Inside Out out of Score and added Mad Max: Fury Road.

I switch Age of Ultron for Ant Man in Best Visual Effect, Bryan Cranston for Johnny Depp in Best Leading Actor and The Good Dinosaur for When Marnie was There in Best Animated Feature.

Switch Jennifer Lawrence with Vikander for Danish girl for lead, Elba with Bale for supporting, McAdams for Vikander in Ex Machina, Martian with Big Short for Adapted, BoS with Big Short for Editing.

I reluctantly put Idris Elba in – my reluctance is only that I haven’t seen his performance, it’s the only one I haven’t seen that I am now predicting. The “white out” issue and his many precursors swayed me, plus having two 100-1 shots in the acting races seemed like too much of a stretch. I am feeling very confident in the technical categories, where I usually do only so-so, and less confident in the acting categories, where I usually do great. The category placement issues could doom me as I decided that the frauds were all going to hold and Tremblay, Mara and Vikander would all get supporting nominations. (Dano will be snubbed, but I would be thrilled to be wrong about him!)

I hate that Creed is not getting a Best Film Editing nomination ): There are many I didn’t nominate like that where I am hoping my predictions are wrong!

Mostly, I want Jennifer Lawrence to be left off the list for Best Actress, please. Any combination of Blanchett, Larson, Mara, Mirren, Rampling, Ronan, Smith and/or Vikander will make me so incredibly happy! (:

I hope i’m wrong about George Miller. I don’t want him nominated but I am predicting it to happen.

I was hoping to be brave with Michael Caine for Lead, but I switched him out for Matt Damon, instead.

I just made Vikander a double nominee by moving her Danish Girl performance into lead and bumping out Jennifer Lawrence. God help me.

I switched out Rampling for a double Vikander nomination too. I put her in Lead for Danish Girl and in Supporting for Ex Machina… ‘m probabaly wrong but we will see.

Jennifer Lawrence is driving my crazy. I keep taking her out and putting her back in. (and The Vikander situation is just baffling but I think I’m sticking with her in supporting for Danish)

Ridley Scott to Tom McCarthy in Director (my big NGNG snub)
The Good Dinosaur to When Marnie Was There in Animated
“Mean Ol’ Moon” to “Feels Like Summer” in Song
Vikander in Ex Machina to Vikander in Danish Girl in Supporting Actress
Brooklyn to The Martian in Adapted Screenplay
Carol to Star Wars in Production Design
Going Clear to Meru in Documentary

    Ugh. I have such doubts.
