One of my favourite things about any awards ceremony is the nominee clips shown before the grand reveal.

So, what should the nominee clips be for the Oscars this year? (If they have any).

You can also play it with the BAFTA nominees, as they traditionally do show clips of the nominees on the night, so you can see how close you get to the real thing.

A reminder of the Oscar nominees:
Bryan Cranston, Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Fassbender, Eddie Redmayne
Cate Blanchett, Brie Larson, Jennifer Lawrence, Charlotte Rampling, Saoirse Ronan
Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Mark Ruffalo, Mark Rylance, Sylvester Stallone
Jennifer Jason Leigh, Rooney Mara, Rachel McAdams, Alicia Vikander, Kate Winslet

    And the BAFTA nominees are:
Bryan Cranston, Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Fassbender, Eddie Redmayne
Cate Blanchett, Brie Larson, Saoirse Ronan, Maggie Smith, Alicia Vikander (TDG)
Christian Bale, Benicio Del Toro, Idris Elba, Mark Ruffalo, Mark Rylance
Jennifer Jason Leigh, Rooney Mara, Alicia Vikander (EM), Julie Walters, Kate Winslet

    SAG has clips too:
Bryan Cranston, Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Fassbender, Eddie Redmayne
Cate Blanchett, Brie Larson, Helen Mirren, Saoirse Ronan, Sarah Silverman
Christian Bale, Idris Elba, Mark Rylance, Michael Shannon, Jacob Tremblay
Rooney Mara, Rachel McAdams, Helen Mirren, Alicia Vikander, Kate Winslet

They should pick what SAG and BAFTA don’t choose for their own clips. I’m so tired of seeing the same clip for actors shown over and over again.

Leonardo DiCaprio only has one Oscar clip, so I want to see them subvert that and instead show something more in the spirit of his performance throughout the movie, like riding off a cliff or going down a waterfall.

They did that last year, and some of them were laughably bad.(Arquette, Cumberbatch, Pike, Streep) Oscar is the last destination and the one that everyone watches without a doubt, so for the sake of variety, people shouldn’t think ”So, were they the best performances of the year? Really?”

SAG does have the best clips followed by Critics Choice. The latter’s Supporting Actress intro was my favourite last year. I hope they don’t skip those today, now that they have merged with TV.

Saoirse: “Mammy I’m married” or “My name is Eilis Fiorelli!”

Saoirse: “Mammy I’m married” or “My name is Eilis Fiorelli!”

Or when she’s telling Emory Cohen she loves him back.

And Vikanders could be “I want to hold my husband”

I think For Ronan it should be one of the two crying scenes or any of the lovin scenes with Tony.

I think McAdams will have the “I am here because I care” scene from the trailer.

A few suggestions: I think that Idris Elba’s clip for SAG and BAFTA should be the “Never forget your commandant” speech. Mark Rylance’s will be the “standing man” monologue. Matt Damon will probably have “Made will come to fear my botany powers”. Saoirse’s should be the scene on the phone with her mother, even though she has better scenes that are a bit spoilery. Walters will have the scene after Eilis comes home from Christmas. Ruffalo will obviously have the ” they knew and they let it happen” speech. Tremblay will have the birthday cake scene, and Larson should have the “you don’t know what’s going on in my head” scene. Fassbender should have the “she’s not my daughter” scene in Act 1 and Winslet should have the fix it scene from Act 3. Vikander should have the “you shouldn’t trust Nathan” scene. Not sure about the rest.

YES! I want to see him when he backs into the water (and then goes down the waterfall). It’s a simple, small thing, but actually watching that movie I thought “wow, he’s just going right into that freezing water, for real.” Plus it’d be hilarious to see amongst all those other people yelling and crying.

In that same regard I hope the clip for Damon is him making a joke, and I hope the clip for Ruffalo is not the obvious one, but rather him just talking to Tucci or something like that.

Sylvester Stallone’s clip should be the scene when he is with creed in the locker room, saying how he wishes that he had one more day with his wife. This scene literally brought me to tears.

Leigh could have a lot of great clips. The best one would be her reaction to her brother getting shot, but that scene is probably to bloody for the academy to choose.

I want Brie’s to be her interview scene. Sirsha’s conversation with the Priest.

Stallone’s should be the where he finds out he has cancer, “my wife tried that” killed me. but they’ll probably go with the locker room scene
Mara’s I’m sure will be the scene with Cate Blanchett in the car, the “i always say yes” scene
Blanchett’s SHOULD be the “I love you” scene, but that might be spoilery, so the testification scene would also be great
IMO Ronan’s best scene is her very last one, but I’m sure they’ll go with something earlier, possibly when she finds out about her sister
I think Brie’s should be the “you’re going to love it, the world” scene
