    Self-explanatory, I think.

Looper showing up in best picture and editing.
The Master in best picture, director
The Dark Knight Rises in best picture, director

    Anything else?

I won’t be surprised if The Master shows up in either category.. Tree of Life was equally as divisive (maybe moreso) and look what happened. The Reader was as divisive a film as well.. Babel, too. The Master will be helped by the fact that the people who are favorable, LOVE it, meaning many number one spots are coming its way.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower in Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor (hoping screenplay wouldn’t be a surprise)

One of the Dolly songs from Joyful Noise in Best Song. Why? Because I love Dolly and wanted her to win for Travelin’ Thru (loved that song). Hate that she was up against Fame because 9 to 5 would have been a worthy winner as well.

    Looper in Screenplay

    Richard Gere for best actor

Moonrise Kingdom, best picture / screenplay. Kara Haywood, best actress. Looper, best picture.

    Also, adding Looper for Cinematography.

I’m also really hoping Best actor for Joaquin Phoenix happens. It would as if not more glaring than Fassbender’s snub last year.

Moonrise Kingdom for Best Picture, director, cinematography

Django Unchained for Best supporting actor – Dicaprio; Best lead actor – Christoph Waltz

Beasts of the Southern Wild – Best picture, director, actress

    Rachel Weisz for Best Actress
Eddie Redmayne for Best Supporting Actor

To show some independent thought, at least one nominee in a major category who wasn’t cited by SAG, the Globes, or Critics’ Choice.

Really wouldn’t call it a surprise, but THE MASTER in all categories such as Picture, Director, Screenplay, Actor, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Screenplay, Cinematography, Production Design, Editing, Costume, Score.

    Cloud Atlas- Score
    Dark Knight Rises- Picture
Django Unchained- Director-unless it’s at the expense of PTA, and Best Original Songs for Freedom and/or Who Did That to You
Katy Perry Wide Awake for Best Song
Jack Black- Best Actor unless at the expense of Phoenix
    Actress- Greta Gerwig

    Exactly.

No one knows how this year will go because of two wild cards – the very early deadline (in recent years members have had the post-NYs weekend to catch up with what they still haven’t seen

The online voting, which could mean both members voted early pre-Xmas to get it over with (and thus miss some films) and others might not vote at all

Whether these have any impact – more closely alligned with other groups, or more independent – no one knows

Didn’t realize The Master had so much support on GD.. Am currently thinking the surprise nominee will happen in Supplrting Actor, I just cannot decide if it is John Goodman, Samuel L. Jackson or Eddie Redmayne. I think one of those three are in.

Matthew McConaughey for supporting actor. He was suprisingly fantastic in Magic Mike.

And Quvenzhane Wallis for Best Actress. Without her, Beasts of the Southern Wild would have been a disaster!
