NOTE: This is not a poll, so don’t worry.
I’m not talking about Best Picture nominees. I’m talking about all movies. Good and bad that premiered since 2000.
Certainly we have seen a couple of masterpieces since the turn of the century. There are acclaimed films like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Social Network, and divise films like Moulin Rouge! and The Tree of Life.
But there might be other great films that were overlooked at the Oscars and that, for you, made that the Best Movie Year of the 21st Century thus far. You have 12 choices. 2000 to 2011.
Let the discussions begin…July 2, 2012 at 12:39 pm #64132
For me the best movie since 2000 is The White ribbonJuly 2, 2012 at 1:13 pm #64133
The question isn’t the best movie. I’m saying the “Best Movie Year” overall since 2000.July 2, 2012 at 1:23 pm #64134
I think the best year for movies since 2000 was probably 2006 with the best examples being:
-Children of Men
-The Devil Wears Prada
-For Your Consideration
-Letters from Iwa Jima
-Little Miss Sunshine
-Thank You For Smoking
…and a few others I am sure I am forgetting.
Also close behind is 2007:
-The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
-There Will Be Blood (though I did find a little overrated)July 2, 2012 at 1:28 pm #64135

I loved 2010. 2002 wasn’t shabby as well.July 3, 2012 at 5:45 am #64138
2007 and 2010 were pretty amazing. 2012 is shaping up to be great as well.July 3, 2012 at 9:39 am #64139
2007July 3, 2012 at 3:54 pm #64140
For me, the best year overall: 2010.
That year was so crowded with good and great movies I actually cheated and had 13 movies in my top ten list that year. And even still, I’ve never left more outstanding films off of my list than I did that year.July 3, 2012 at 5:41 pm #64141
Well heck. Extremely tough question for me to answer.
I’ll go with 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2009. But for me, every year has been overall fabulous.
