Well, I could pass on this subject…..Jennifer Garner…..my personal opinion of her sharply colours any comments I may make, such as, “go away”…..November 15, 2015 at 9:39 am #198268
Eh, every A-list actor has a dry spell. Even Meryl Streep had her down period.November 15, 2015 at 9:47 am #198269
She was great in Danny Collins earlier this year. And wheter you like the movie or not she was pretty great in Men, Women, and Children last year. I think she is just being more selective now with the whole divorceNovember 15, 2015 at 11:03 am #198270
She has never been a major movie star to begin with. And when she married Ben Affleck she kinda became only “Ben Affleck’s wife that once was in Alias” ….November 15, 2015 at 1:52 pm #198271
I think she suffered from a few things: #1) her film career never really took off to start with. After “13 Going on 30” she failed to attach herself to any movie that was a signifigant hit. “Elektra” was a massive flop, and despite being something of a hit “Valentines Day” was not really “her” movie it was an ensemble piece. Yes she was in “Juno” and “Dallas Buyers Club” but it seems neither of them propelled her film career forward.
#2) She seemed to focus more on her personal life after getting married and having kids. She hasn’t worked nearly as much as her A-List (ex)-husband has. I think she’s been pretty content as a mother and wife and that working has taken a back seat.
#3) She has focused too much on Film instead of TV where she was a much bigger name. I think if she were to focus on producing or starring in a couple high-profile mini-series or limited series her name would become more important and she’d get her career back on-track. Something that reminds people she can act, similar to what “Temple Grandin” did for Claire Danes.November 15, 2015 at 7:58 pm #198272
Love this thread and her — I thought she was actually the best part about “Juno” and am tired of seeing her relegated to small, supporting, “let’s just throw a woman in here because” roles when Alias and 13 Going on 30 prove how great she can be. Agree that a return to TV would suit her really really well.November 15, 2015 at 8:20 pm #198273
Maybe she signed a pre-nup with Affleck and that’s why she’s gotta do these shitty movies. Something’s gotta pay the bills.November 16, 2015 at 9:18 am #198274
God forbid a hollywood actress doesn’t let a nanny fully raise her children.
Garner put her career aside to raise her children and I admire her for that. Quit shitting on her.November 17, 2015 at 8:44 am #198275
I would like to see Garner do something worthy of her talents. Her performance in “Juno” is seriously underrated. I really like her as an actress and a person, and it’d be great to see her in a great showcase role.November 18, 2015 at 2:34 am #198276
She’s not a film actress. That’s happened to her.November 18, 2015 at 5:59 am #198277
Well, the first time I noticed Jennifer Garner, it was in Catch Me If You Can, where she has a small, but memorable role. And wow, gorgeous!
I also enjoyed her somewhat in The Invention of Lying…..that’s it, I believe. Or perhaps, 13 Going on 30…lol.
As a person, I have very little respect for her, other than, she’s a living breathing human being.
There is no film in the world with her in it that would make me dodge traffic, pay a premium price, and watch her shiny teeth ‘acting’.
I dont have any active, ill will however. I just dont like her…and for a reason(s)…funny how, some of us cant separate the person from the work, although, sometimes, it’s possible if they can act.
