    This year is going to be very exciting. I predict;
    Critics’ Choice: Frances McDormand
    GG Drama: Frances McDormand
    GG Comedy: Margot Robbie
    SAG: Margot Robbie
    BAFTA: Sally Hawkins
    Oscar: Margot Robbie

Brie Larson and Alicia Vikander carried Short Term 12 and Ex Machina, respectively, won awards for it and were considered (by many) snubbed at the Oscars.

Patricia Arquette and Lupita N’yongo (they were supporting, it’s a different ball game than Leading, whether you care to admit or not but since you brought it up) were in BP frontrunner and BP winner, while I, Tonya is not.

The only thing Robbie has to back her up is The Wolf of Wallstreet, for a supporting role, that did not even make it to any precursor.

So, pardon me for believing that she isn’t winning over Ronan who has better track record, especially in a year full of stronger alternatives.

You clearly said Robbie’s credibility depended on her lack of a nomination and I pointed out how wrong you were by listing these winners who had their first nominations for the movies they’ve won. Whether you or anyone think some of them were snubbed for other roles, or carried by other roles is an inconclusive argument because we will never know that for sure. If you don’t want to stick to your argument and change it in any way you like there is no point of further discussing it because you will always find a way to discredit Robbie in favor of Ronan.

The Academy also hasn’t awarded anyone for playing a teenager/high school student whereas they have awarded everyone and their mothers for playing real-life characters and Robbie has that to her advantage.

Anyone who believes starfuckers are going to award McDormand is silly. They will award either the other frontrunner (Sally Hawkins) or Fakeryl Streep. To win GG McDormand would have to be Mirren/DDL undeniable.

I agree 100%. The academy is not going to award a performance about a woman whose first word to someone is a swear word, or beats kids for fun. I mean, I respect McDormand’s work, but she ain’t winning. The only possible scenario positive towards her is winning the SAG. That’s it; no Golden Globe ofc, no BAFTA, and certainly no Oscar.

I see a fight between Streep, Ronan, and McDormand.

I suspect there won’t be a clear front-runner heading into Oscar night, barring the slight chance that Ronan steamrolls through BFCA/GG/SAG/BAFTA.

I think it’s likelier Hawkins or Ronan takes BFCA, Hawkins or Streep and Ronan grab the Globes, Ronan or Streep wins SAG and Hawkins scores the BAFTA, which sets up a close Oscar call between Hawkins and Ronan and/or Streep.

At this point, I don’t see the path for McDormand or Robbie.

I doubt it will happen, but I could see:
    BFCA – Ronan
    Drama Globe – Streep
    Comedy Globe – Robbie
    SAG – McDormand
    BAFTA – Hawkins
    Oscar – anyone

She was only referring to the Globes (“starfuckers”, “GG”).

For once, I believe it’s unpredictable. I project there being a split come award season.

It’s Ronan’s time. It will be clear when she wins the SAG.

I love that this category isn’t clear (: It could go to Sally Hawkins, Frances McDormand, Margot Robbie, Saoirse Ronan or Meryl Streep… or maybe they will (unlikely) embrace Annette Bening? For me McDormand is the only one I would be unhappy with but that sometimes happens. Some years go better than others. I do think things will become clearer if any of these actresses are snubbed at SAG on the 13th…

If Bening misses at the Globes, she’s pretty much officially dunzo in terms of landing an Oscar nom.

McDormand is still the frontrunner, in my opinion, but Ronan has come out like a house of fire. I think that both of them will win the Globes in their respective categories (Ronan’s GG is essentially a lock while McDormand is neck-and-neck with Hawkins). That’s all I have for now. This race is truly unpredictable. It reminds of the Best Actor dogfight between Mickey Rourke and Sean Penn in 2009.
