Congratulations, internet. It looks like we have successfully whined and b*tched our way into getting Leonardo DiCaprio an Oscar. We did it with Argo in the Best Picture category, and now we’re doing it with Leo! Because the idea of a good actor making it past his thirties without winning an Oscar is just unprecedented, so thank God we stopped that travesty on our last chance. Where should we head next? Christopher Nolan? Wes Anderson? Johnny Depp?January 25, 2016 at 7:48 pm #213040
Will Smith maybe.January 25, 2016 at 8:03 pm #213041
Edward Norton. So many of his films are quite popular with the 18-30 male demographic.January 25, 2016 at 8:09 pm #213042
Yeah forget the fact Leo’s performance is one of the best of his careerJanuary 25, 2016 at 8:19 pm #213043
Jim CarreyJanuary 25, 2016 at 8:40 pm #213044
Leonardo DiCaprio is 41.January 25, 2016 at 8:52 pm #213045
I’m guessing Johnny Depp would be next. I know his reputation has really taken a hit over the past few years, but people still remember him fondly for Edward Scissorhands, Pirates, Fear and Loathing, Donnie Brasco, and even Sweeney Todd. If he turns in a legitimately great performance again (Black Mass was a start I suppose) I could see a narrative building around him.January 25, 2016 at 9:24 pm #213046
I always wonder how much the general public “cares” about directors beyond the really ubiquitous ones like Spielberg, Tarantino, Scorsese, etc. I’d have to think if Christopher Nolan gets a significant shot at Oscar, the masses will support it. It’ll be interesting though what the reaction will be to bait like “Dunkirk” instead of usual Nolan-ish fare (“Inception,” “The Dark Knight,” “Interstellar,” etc.)January 25, 2016 at 9:38 pm #213047
I wish Joaquin Phoenix or Jake Gyllenhaal but they don’t play the politics gameJanuary 25, 2016 at 10:19 pm #213048
I don’t think the internet stuff will have much to do with him winning. It is more that it is his 5th acting nod without winning so just like Julianne Moore last year…it is time.
Kate Winslet lampooned the pressure of being a 5 time nominee without winning in “Extras”.January 25, 2016 at 10:20 pm #213049

Will Smith maybe.
Let it be someone who at least can act.January 25, 2016 at 10:47 pm #213051
Kristen StewartJanuary 25, 2016 at 11:48 pm #213052
You all know it’s Amy Adams. Her “overdue” narrative is being written as we speak. And i will not be here for that.
