Extremely early word is that Dean Norris is the one to watch from Jason Reitman’s ‘Men, Women and Children’. Wouldn’t that be something? After the Emmys ignore him, Norris gets the Oscar before his ‘Breaking Bad’ co-star Bryan Cranston? HahaSeptember 5, 2014 at 9:47 pm #160758
Jake Gyllenhaal getting raves out of TIFF for ‘Nightcrawler’. The film itself is getting compared to ‘Taxi Driver’ and ‘American Psycho’.September 5, 2014 at 9:49 pm #160759
Samantha Morton in Miss Julie for Best Supporting Actress
Miranda Otto in The Homesman for Best Supporting Actress
Oscar Isaac in A Most Violent Year for Best Leading Actor
Tommy Lee Jones in The Homesman for Best Leading Actor
Jessica Chastain in A Most Violent Year for Best Supporting Actress (although people do seem to be predicting her)
Katherine Waterston in Inherent Vice for Best Supporting Actress
Josh Brolin in Inherent Vice for Best Supporting Actor (he’s 1/50 in the predictions center……. i think he’ll win, but we shall see)September 5, 2014 at 9:50 pm #160760
As for Jessica Lange…. the only film i see her possibly getting a nomination for is The Gambler. I think it would be pretty cool if she got a nomination. I might be wrong but i don’t think Wild Oats is her ticket to the Oscars…..September 6, 2014 at 12:55 am #160761
Jack O’Connell, Katherine Waterson & perhaps Anne Hathaway for Interstellar.September 6, 2014 at 1:03 am #160762
Which actor I think is & will be tragically overlooked? Brendan Gleeson.
Oscar contenders that are probably overlooked right now are Moore for Still Alice, McAvoy for Eleanor Rigby (supporting), Cotillard (Two Days, One Night) .. weak year for Best Actress right? ..and Oscar Isaac & Michael Shannon for something.
Now who I think is being hyped too much (and don’t see winning) is Arquette.September 6, 2014 at 4:29 am #160763
Probably Anne Hathaway in “Instellar” & Melissa McCarthy in “St. Vincent”.
And I hate the skeptic comments on Shaiene Woodley in “The Fault in Our Stars” as well. Or what about Channing Tatum in “Foxcatcher”?September 6, 2014 at 4:59 am #160764
Jennifer Aniston, CakeSeptember 6, 2014 at 5:47 am #160765
Tyler Perry!September 6, 2014 at 5:53 am #160766
Michael Shannon for 99 HomesSeptember 6, 2014 at 7:25 am #160768
Cameron Diaz was interested in “Men, Women, Children” but because of scheduling conflicts she couldn’t do it. If I’m not mistaken she was up for Judy Greer role (Rosmarie and Jennifer were already cast) so if A-list movie star was interested in it, it must have been some good shit. So Judy Greer for me.September 6, 2014 at 7:58 am #160769
^I have her in my predictions so have to second that!
Ill also add Carmen Ejogo for Selma (not that shes in the prediction center so for all I know people would predict her)
Also Anne Dorval. I think she’s a long shot, but not as much as people think
