Viven Leigh, Jodie Foster, Meryl Streep.March 12, 2015 at 2:10 pm #182604
Vivien Leigh, Sally Field and Meryl StreepMarch 12, 2015 at 2:20 pm #182605
I think Streep deserves the two lead Oscars she has, but not for those two particular performances. I would go with Sophie’s Choice and Out of Africa.March 12, 2015 at 2:23 pm #182606
Many of them deserved at least 1 or 2 overall, but Vivien Leigh is the only one who was my personal pick for both roles that she won for.March 12, 2015 at 3:02 pm #182608
Vivien Leigh, and maybe Olivia de Havilland.
Bergman: Gaslight (1944)
Davis: Dangerous (1935)
Fonda: 0 – maybe for Klute
Foster: The Silence of the Lambs ()
Jackson: Women in Love (1970)
Rainer: The Good Earth (1937)
Streep: Sophie’s Choice (1982)
Swank: Boys Don’t Cry (1999)
Taylor: Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf (1966)March 12, 2015 at 3:58 pm #182609
Can we also include Katharine hepburn since she has at least two oscars for best actress?
Morning Glory (1934), Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner (1968), The Lion in Winter (1969), and On Golden Pond (1982)March 12, 2015 at 6:49 pm #182610
Hands down Vivien Leigh. Two of my favourite acting performance by actress.March 12, 2015 at 7:19 pm #182611
I would say Sally Field because both were deserving performances to win for but I still really loved Bette Midler in The Rose so that’s the only thing against Filed. Same goes with Swank, both deserving performances but I still loved Anette in American Beauty a little more than Swank in Boys Don’t Cry.March 13, 2015 at 12:51 am #182612

Vivian Leigh is the rare person who actually won Oscars for their two best AND most famous roles.March 13, 2015 at 7:06 am #182614
…oh wait, she hasn’t even been nominated for Best Actress?
Peh…fix that right now AMPAS
To answer the question, Meryl Streep and Jane FondaMarch 13, 2015 at 7:12 am #182615
Meryl, on the strength of Sophie’s Choice alone. And, Vivien Leigh.
Reiner is also terrific, but it’s hard for me to endorse an actor wearing eye pieces to look more Asian.
All of these women do and did Oscar-worthy works.
