I believe that one of these three will NOT get a deserved Oscar nomination because the category is very strong this year. Which one will it be? or, do you think all 3 will make the final five?December 18, 2016 at 4:37 pm #1201971723
This should be in the Best Actress thread…..why is Amy and Meryl here and not Ruth Negga?December 18, 2016 at 6:12 pm #1201971779
There’s a VERY slight chance that they ALL could miss.
I think Meryl’s still the weakest of your three.December 18, 2016 at 6:18 pm #1201971782
Based on performances, Meryl is more critically acclaimed (In FFL)December 18, 2016 at 6:57 pm #1201971805
I think Annette will unfortunately miss out on an Oscar nomination this year.December 18, 2016 at 7:04 pm #1201971810

Bening. Already got snubbed at SAG, very little chance at getting BAFTA, no1curr about the film anymore, DOA.December 19, 2016 at 1:41 am #1201971949
Streep. It’s an unprecedented year but FFJ was not as acclaimed as 20th Century Women and I never saw anyone claiming “Streep was at her best” the way I saw for Bening. Just a few weeks ago, Bening was considered a lock for a nom, so I’m going to go with my gut and say she’s safe.December 19, 2016 at 2:17 am #1201971952
Bening out.December 19, 2016 at 5:48 am #1201972001
I have to go with Streep. I have not seen 20th Century Woman, but Bening has to be better than Streep in Florence Foster Jenkins, which was an incredibly pointless movie with slightly-better-than-mediocre acting. Streep was definitely not at her best; she did better in Ricki and the Flash last year. And Adams was just incredible in Arrival.
