Predicting the winners of the main categories is becoming easier every year and the ceremony itself usually turns out to be anticlimactic. And it’s been a while since a true outsider has taken the gold.

So, if a big upset were to happen this year, who/what could it be?
    Please, elaborate

Elizabeth Banks? I might be literalizing the comparison, here, but someone with almost no precursor attention in a divided category by playing the wife of a tortured artist?

But I don’t see that category being as split as a year like 2000. It’s so weird when you break it down: Hudson won the Globe, McDormand won BFCA, Dench won SAG, and Walters won BAFTA. The last time that happened, the BAFTA bloc triumphed with Tilda but she was also a prime opportunity to reward the very-liked Michael Clayton. It’s kind of weird that Harden was even nominated.

A split like that could happen this year, as neither of the supporting categories have a clear frontrunner.
I was thinking Harvey Keitel. He could sneak in if the Academy embraces Youth. And if no frontrunner emerges from the precursors, he could get it as the overdue veteran.

It most probably happened in best supporting actor and actress race.
Best supporting actor: It is so hard to even predict who will win which awards. I feel that Golden Globe will go to Sly. BAFTA will go to brits like Mark Rylance or Idris Elba probably.

    Best supporting actress:
I think Mara will win whatever she is nominated in supporting. She will probably win SAG and BFCA. I think Vikander will win Golden Globe as HFPA loves her so much by giving her double nominations. In Bafta, I think both will go to lead, leaving Winslet to win in the category

marcia gay harden shocked absolutely everybody whe she won the oscar for Pollock, but it’s very difficult to determinate who could do the same this year :

in the lead actor category, i’m not pretty sure but my thoughts would go for Micheal Caine in YOUTH, or Ian Mckellen for Mr HOLMES

in the supporting actor category, i’d say micheal Keaton in SPOTLIGHT, Benicio Del Toro for SICARIO or my biggset wish Oscar Isaac for EX MACHINA

in the lead actress category i only see Carey Mulligan do that in SUFRAGETTES

in the supporting actress category perhaps Kristen Stewart for CLOUDS OF SILS MARIA, and Marion Cotillard for MACBETH
