    Let’s hear your thoughts!

Who do you think will host the 89th Oscars on February 26, 2017?

And who do you WANT to host?

I’ve always wanted Martin Short to host. I suspect, however, Ellen may actually come back for this next one.

If they bring back a previous host, it will likely be Ellen, Jackman, or Whoopi Goldberg, provided they can convince them to do it. If they bring in a new host, it could be a late-night personality such as James Cordon or Stephen Colbert, or a Tina Fey/Amy Poehler duo, or someone like Louis C.K. or Kevin Hart. C.K. is my personal choice, since he had the funniest introduction at last year’s ceremony and could do a solid job of making the show NOT a complete bore.

I think it’s going to be Ellen or Steve Martin (It’s been a bit since he hosted and I just love his sense of humor).

Louis C.K. should at least be considered after he made presenting Documentary Short this year quite interesting. Problem is, he wouldn’t attract many viewers.

Maybe it’s time to have a woman again. Kate McKinnon, maybe?

The host is not responsible for viewership. The slate of nominees are. Whenever the public is invested in who wins the ratings are up.

After James Corden’s thrilling Tony hosting gig, I wouldn’t mind him getting Oscar host at all. If not him, then Amy and Tina for the upgrade. I found Louis C.K.’s shading of the short film nominees in rare poor taste. I don’t think he’d “get the room” and be seen as one of the less successful hosts if he’s chosen.

I disagree. The host is the one doing all the press in the weeks/months leading up to the Oscars. He becomes the face of the ceremony. Then he needs to hold their attention during the opening monologue. Terrible monologues lose viewers.

    Forgot to suggest: Amy Schumer.

Anyone, but Chris Rock, Neil Patrick Harris, Jimmy Kimmel or Jimmy Fallon please! So tired of these people at this point! They should ask someone actually funny this time! Possibly a woman for once!

If I were looking for a brand new host, I’d be interested in Martin Short.

If I were looking for a previous host, I’d be interested in Hugh Jackman.

Nobody. Host is a waste of time.
