We have 8 Best Picture nominees, and given its SIX nominations, odds are Carol was 9th on that list. So who finished 10th? I have listed the films which had multiple nominations without a Picture nod.

I’m guessing Straight Outta Compton was 10th. Other likely contenders are Inside Out and Sicario.

Either Sicario or Star Wars. Something tells me Compton still wouldn’t have made it. Ugh.

Hateful Eight and Steve Jobs couldnt even get in Screenplay. They probably wouldn’t even make a Top 15.

Are we assuming Carol was 9th?

Easily. Probably the three female-centric films were 7th-9th. Room probably 7th, Brooklyn 8th and Carol 9th.

Room would have been ahead of The Martian and probably Bridge of Spies, judging by Abrahamson’s nomination.

Due to the popularity in picking it, Other has now become Straight Outta Compton in its own right. If you do think it is another film not listed, please comment.

I think Martian was easily in Top 5, and so does Bridge of Spies. They both had PGA noms, Room didn’t.

Either The Force Awakens of Straight Outta Compton, Star Wars picked up a few noms I wasn’t expecting, I wasstarting to wonder if it would’nt show up after all.

I voted Star Wars despite remembering that Dragon Tattoo WON Editing and got nods for Actress/Sound/Sound/Cinematography yet missed the T9.

Is this comment meant to be satirical? I hope so…

I voted SOC because it had PGA, as well as a writing nom over Sicario. Also, the fact that Oscar went out of its way to nominate Selma for BP last year with no other major nominations is suggestive that there is a strong contingent in the Academy concerned with matters of diversity, or perhaps specifically Black-themed films. Though this time it wasn’t quite enough. You never know though, maybe SOC was the 9th nominee, and Carol 10th.

Dragon Tattoo had PGA and DGA noms though. Star Wars had neither.
