Who needs an Oscar CAMPAIGN this coming season ???

PRESUMABLY not Meryl Streep as an offshot reaction to this MISLEADING and UNCERTAIN Variety Article:

    http://variety.com/2015/film/news/meryl-streep-may-not-get-an-oscar-campaign-for-ricki-and-the-flash-1201556053/
“It’s a great role for her, because she loves to sing,” Platt said. “Who among us doesn’t wish to be a rocker? For an actress that reinvents herself in characters all the time, here’s a different set of boots to step into.”

But he acknowledged that “Ricki and the Flash” is the rare Streep project that probably won’t get a built-in best actress campaign at the Oscars. “I don’t know if it’s that’s kind of a movie,” Platt said. “It’s a delightful little entertainment.”

BUT ….. Who Else …. likewise What Film ???

What Circumstances & Degree that an Oscar Campaign are deemed Necessary if not Critical ???

In the past ….. Who & What were the SUCCESS & FAILED Oscar Campaign Stories worth sharing  ???

Corollary ….. Who made it WITHOUT or HARDLY any Oscar Campaign at all ???

    P.S.   TROLLS & IMPERTINENTS ….. NOT WELCOME  !!!

You’ve reduced me to tears Etchie, and I need to put my foot down.

Please, for the love of god, STOP!!!!!!

You create useless threads about useless things, all centered around your perverse love of Meryl Streep. You’ve evolved into something terrible – you used to be a dedicated fan, which is not a problem. But then you started to waste our time and make GoldDerby hideous with your unfortunate use of color and your headache-inducing sentences. You’ve now shown yourself as being completely incapable of posting anything that isn’t related to Meryl Streep, and that’s so irritating. One day, there is going to be a post about World War 3 and you’re going to relate it to Meryl Streep. Its actually incredibly creepy. I can only compare you (in your dedication) to James Otto Sweetheart, but at least she is kind and her posts are all good-natured and lovely. Yours are very often malicious and desperate.

What can we do to make you stop? I am sure the whole of GoldDerby can club together to meet your request to make you stop. Name your price, we will do it.

Meryl Streep does have talent. She has three Oscars and 19 nominations. She’s recognized as the greatest living actress and perhaps the greatest actress of all time. She has money, has lots of fans – what else do you want? Do you want her to be elected president of the USA? Do you want her to be sainted and being known as St. Meryl?

I think I know what you’re doing – you’re trying to get her attention, hoping that one day she will stumble on GD and see you praising her and predicting her for everything, and believe that she will suddenly go and create an account and send you many messages of congratulations and appreciations for your years of unbelievable “support” – but the fact is that if she ever sees what you’ve done, she’s more likely to be repulsed and disturbed by your perverse love of her.

    So stop. Just stop. Please.

Oh, and by the way, to answer your question, you don’t need a campaign to get nominated, as long as you have a powerful performance in a good film. An average performance in a weak summer dramedy is not at all going to get her in, even if she is Meryl Streep

For me, the film that most needs a campaign so far this season is Inside Out. Yes, it should easily get into Animated Feature, but I’m talking about the big one. If it wants to get the Best Picture nomination it deserves, it will need to remain in the voters’ minds as they watch all the Oscary films from September to January. Thankfully, Pixar is a master of campaigning.

Can it get two (2) nominations in separate categories same year @ Oscars ???

Isn’t it choose either Best Picture or Best Animated Feature whichever had the better #1 votes like Kate Winslet for The Reader & Revolutionary Road ???

No, Inside Out can be nominated in every category that isn’t specific (ie Documentary, or shorts). Toy Story 3 and Up both got Best Picture nominations, and other animated films have gotten nominations in Score or Film Editing. If I had my way, Inside Out would get nominations in Score, Picture, Editing and Screenplay and Director. Hopefully, it doesn’t get forgotten when the time comes.

This isn’t true. The place animated films have been nominated does not include Film Editing–it’s Sound Editing. Also Sound Mixing, Score, Song, Screenplay and Picture.

IMO Inside Out is unlikely to factor into anything other than BP and Original Screenplay. The Good Dinosaur is the more likely candidate for Sound Mixing, Sound Editing, Score and Song noms.

This Edward Norton Advocacy may gain GROUNDSWELL Support this coming season  !!!

Perhaps, Marc Platt was privy to this and could be the basis for his comment to that MISLEADING Variety article.

After that opening weekend I think Meryl Streep needs an Oscar campaign this coming season.

After that opening weekend I think Meryl Streep needs an Oscar campaign this coming season.

It’s a Limited Opening Weekend with GOOD PTA @ 1,600 screens only.

Ricki will expand to more than 2,000 theaters next weekend.

Anyway, a Campaign for Streep as Film’s MVP will be in the horizon-offing especially WITH the prospects for Best Original Song – Cold One.

Likewise, a Campaign will be INEVITABLE with LOCKED nomination status for Streep @ Golden Globes & Critics Choice !!!
