Did only last night count? Not previous years or other ceremonies?

Don’t tell me you consider Oprah’s vomit-inducing speech at the globes calling out….

    What? LOL

Seriously, I’m asking for real: What the heck does Oprah has to do with what we’re discussing? Is this some sort of US pop culture game à la “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon”, in this case “When in doubt, mention Oprah”?

Haddish would be a great host, but I don’t think that she is as big of a household name yet (give her a couple years though). My bet is that they try to get Ellen Degeneres to host again due to the ratings she got last time. Would love to see Tina and Amy host.

Give Paul Thomas Anderson an Oscar.

I would love to see Kristen Wigg and Maya Rudolph give it a go! I would also watch a Key & Peele Oscar ceremony. Leftfield choice that I would welcome: Drake (he did a great job host ESPYS and SNL).

Maya Rudolph with anyone (Haddish would be an amazing pairing, but is the Academy ready for that?)

I’d like to see Whoopi or Ellen return… Lin Manuel Miranda would be a great first timer – I can see him putting his musical chops to excellent use throughout the show.

But Haddish? Come on, how easily impressed are we to have her in contention for this gig after she flubbed her way through the nominations announcement. Granted, she’s not Leslie Jones bad at reading from a teleprompter, but she’s still cutting her teeth.

Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy her energy, and – when her jokes land – she’s quite funny. But this needs to be given to someone more seasoned – just please not Kevin Hart.

Frances McDormand. It would be over in half an hour.

I fully support Franny McD hosting every awards show ever. In lieu of her, Hugh Jackman would be great, or perhaps some sort of zombified Bernie Mac.

I find it amazing that for the past 20 years or so, the producers have in some years sought out and invited hosts who are usually “edgy” (at least in mainstream middle-America standards) and and have shown to be great and biting hosts at other, more youth-oriented award shows/variety shows/stand up/etc. only to lose all sense of personality that made them sought out in the first place when they actually hosted the Oscars. I would place the blame on what the Oscar producers require out of the hosts and probably how they neuter them. I think Kumail Nanjiani would probably work because his comedy isn’t too biting or anything but he can still make his point without having to do that. It seems his style would actually fit what the Academy was looking for.

Kristen Wiig and Steve Carrell. I still remember them presenting the Animated Feature GG last year.
