I was thinking today, there will most likely be a biopic made about Barbara Walters within the next 5 or 10 years. She is often referred to as the most respected female news journalist of all time. She paved the way for all female news journalists.
Anyway, my question to you is. If they casted for a biopic today, who would you want to play Walters?January 23, 2013 at 12:55 pm #88524
I think Jessica Lange would be great in this role. With just a little make-up, she could look like Walters. Plus, I think with a little voice coaching, she could get down her voice.
Or I could see Glen Close playing the role.January 23, 2013 at 1:01 pm #88525
Walters definitely was a pioneer for women in journalism. Unfortunately, she’s a former shade of herself and has far warn out her welcome. Her performances on “The View” are just embarassing now.January 23, 2013 at 1:01 pm #88526
Walters was her most interesting decades ago (an actress would be good in her forties) – a Sandra Bullock would be fine.January 23, 2013 at 2:46 pm #88527
DEFINITELY HELEN MIRREN!!!!!January 23, 2013 at 3:04 pm #88528
Well, she definitely paved the way for ‘better’ salaries for lady journos…….an expose on Elizabeth Mallet or Nellie Bly, Ida B Wells, and many others I may find far more interesting than one on Barbara, but still…
Who should play her? Lol. How about, Emma Stone?January 23, 2013 at 3:31 pm #88529
Goldie HawnJanuary 23, 2013 at 8:33 pm #88531
Definitly Lange or Mirren.
or perhaps an unknown actress 🙂January 23, 2013 at 8:44 pm #88532
Meryl StreepJanuary 23, 2013 at 10:01 pm #88533
Rachel Dratch.January 23, 2013 at 10:05 pm #88534
I considered Glenn Close but think she just may be too ferocious. Babs can pretty dominating but at other times she’s loosey goosey and that would be interesting to see Close pull off. Jessica Lange is the obvious choice. But what about casting younger (her early days) and then makeup to age her? If so, I throw Claire Danes and Laura Linney into the mix.January 23, 2013 at 11:30 pm #88535
Agreed with Lange. First name to pop in my head.January 24, 2013 at 7:33 am #88536
Sarah PaulsonJanuary 24, 2013 at 7:41 am #88537
Someone said Goldie Hawn above. I think that would good. Or what about Kate Hudson. It would force Kate to become a serious actress again.
I knew when I started this thread, that someone would say Merly Streep. While Meryl is a good actress, I really don’t want to see her in this role. I feel like she is everywhere, and I just want some other actresses her age that AREN’T getting offered all of these roles to get offered this role.
