Lots of actors invited to the Academy this year. Elizabeth Banks? Kevin Hart? Makes me think more than ever that he’s hosting within the next five years.

Where is Patricia Arquette? She’s already a member, correct?

They’re just getting around to Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross? Or are they rejecting membership? Silly music branch lol.

Excited for many names: David Oyelowo (justice!), Rosamund Pike, Tom Hardy, Damian Chazelle, J.K. Simmons, Dan Gilroy, Dev Patel, Emma Stone, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Denis O’Hare, Pawel Pawlikowski, Hoyte van Hoytema, Bong Joon-Ho, Damián Szifron, Joe Wright (?).

While I think Kevin Hart can be pretty funny with the right material, the one-two punch of “Ride Along” and “The Wedding Ringer” as Academy member citations had me putting my face in my hands.

I’m shocked Niki Caro and Wayne Wang weren’t already members. I guess the Academy really is taking diversity seriously.

Hart has headlined a series of movies over the last couple years and his credit list is actually very long. He’s more deserving than someone like Martin Freeman or Jodi Long or John Carroll Lynch. But because he’s a comedian people look down on him.

Glad for the 3 spanish new memebers, Casting Director Luis San Narciso, director Alex de La Iglesia who joins writing branch with his pal Jorge Guerrichevarria. Fernando Trueba was already a member long time ago, i guess he didnt pay the fee and he has to be re-invited again
