The Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award winner will be announced by the HFPA on November 1.

Who do you think are the most likely possibilities at the next Golden Globes ceremony?

Why no award on 2008? was that becuase of the writers strike?

Honestly, I really don’t know at this point.  I’d love to see somebody like Goldie Hawn or Susan Sarandon get this, but I doubt either would be considered worthy enough.

Based on the past couple of decades, the choice will be more known for films than television and will be over 50 (hopefully 60+). He or she will also have to agree to appear in person to accept.

It’s been over a decade since a woman was honored.

I honestly think it will be given to Meryl Streep this time, but the other most likely ladies could be…

    Julie Andrews
    Carol Burnett
    Glenn Close
    Sally Field
    Jane Fonda
    Whoopi Goldberg
    Goldie Hawn
    Diane Keaton
    Jessica Lange
    Angela Lansbury
    Helen Mirren

If it goes to yet another man, likely contenders could be…

    Alan Alda
    Jeff Bridges
    Michael Caine
    George Clooney
    Francis Ford Coppola
    Bill Cosby
    Billy Crystal
    Robert Duvall
    Tom Hanks
    Ron Howard
    Samuel L. Jackson
    George Lucas
    Steve Martin
    Peter O’Toole
    Denzel Washington

I don’t think they’ll give it to Meryl since she’s eligible for Hope Springs. Isn’t that some sort of a requirtment? In case that rule really applies, then Glenn Close, Jessica Lange, Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Diane Keaton, Michael Caine, Tom Hanks, and Denzel Washington will be ineligible.

    Women:
    Meryl Streep!
    Helen Mirren
    Jodie Foster
    Diane Keaton

    Men:
    Christopher Walken
    Tom Hanks
    Kevin Spacey
    Bill Murray
    John Travolta
    Tommy Lee Jones

But based on her Academy Award for The Iron Lady, I say that the DeMille Award is going to Meryl Streep…

    I hope it’s Jodie Foster!

She’s only 50 years old. Kinda early for a lifetime award, don’t you think?

Wouldn’t award for Meryl Streep be a little more premature at this point as she has “Hope Springs” and “August: Osage Country” for this and next year’s awards season? It would be something like with Paul Newman who won competitive Oscar just year after taking honorary Oscar which somehow doesn’t sound right.

Jodie Foster seems like a crazy idea yet she’s in the business longer than Streep.

Them being the Globes, I guess we should also consider if the recipient has a movie coming out in the first half of 2013. I remember DeNiro’s tribute clip of his career was half filled (slight overexaggeration from me yes but still) with scenes from his yet to be released Limitless, which was just pathetic.

She’s still won two Academy Awards and has been in showbusiness for 46 years! Meryl may have three Academy Awards but has been in the business for 41 years

I’m not saying she doesn’t deserve it, but at the same time isn’t is supposed to honor person’s whole life and career? I doubt Foster is done professionally, she might as well win another Oscar in a future. I don’t particularly think Streep needs one after 8 competitive prizes, but at least she has a senior card.
