    Results from previous polls:

    #1: Bradley Cooper = 31% Vs. Leonardo DiCaprio = 69%
    #2: Amy Adams = 68% Vs. Jessica Chastain = 32%
    #3: Annette Bening = 45% Vs. Glenn Close = 55%

Poll Four: Gary Oldman Vs. Alan Rickman

Two big British acting heavyweight – both somehow Oscar-less.

Oldman has one previous nomination for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.He has 4 BAFTA nominations, with two wins, for Best British Film & Original Screenplay for Nil By Mouth, which he directed, wrote and produced.

Rickman has NEVER been nominated for an Oscar. He has received 4 BAFTA nominations, winning one for Supporting Actor in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

Both are arguably on a similar level of esteem, and with the right material could well win, with a large argument for an overdue factor kicking in. But who will win an Oscar first?

Neither. Rickman likely doesn’t care. And Oldman’s politics will prevent him from being nominated again, let alone winning.

I doubt either will ever win to be honest, but gun to my head I’d say Oldman is likelier.

Politics didn’t prevent Sean Penn from winning twice and defeating much more deserving contenders both times.
Oldman is an actors’ actor and they all know it. If he gets a meaty part in a major contender, he’ll win. Rickman – I don’t count him out, but it’s rather unlikely. If he gets a really great part and delivers in a best picture nominee, it could happen. Probably in supporting.

Penn’s on the left, Oldman is on the right. And unlike right leaning vets like Eastwood and Duvall, Oldman recently received his overdue first Oscar nomination.

And honestly I re-watched the final Harry Potter chapter and I don’t get it why Rickman was considered for an Oscar nom. He had barely any scenes and he was average in all of them. If anyone deserved an Oscar nom for the Harry Potter Series it was Imelda Staunton back in 2007.

Gary Oldman. He’s already a member of the Oscar club to begin with.
