Poll Seven: Emma Stone Vs. Shailene Woodley

Stone was nominated this year for her role in Birdman, her first nomination. She won the SAG as part of the Ensemble for The Help, and has two Golden Globe nods & a BAFTA nod.

Woodley has yet to be nominated for an Oscar, but has Golden Globe, SAG & BAFTA nods.

Stone will star in Woodey Allen’s Irrational Man, to premiere at Cannes, and also stars this year in Aloha, the latest film by Cameron Crowe.
Woodley is currently filming Snowden, the Oliver Stone film to be released on Christmas Day.

But who do you think will win an Oscar first?

O c’mon. It had better be Stone. For starters, she’s incredible all ’round and has shown herself to be quite versatile, being effective in comedy, and drama.

Woodley has started quite a little film  career with her cute angst and more angst. She’s an athletic actor as well, with her kicking and building-jumping. As soon as she messes with her eyebrows in a movie, look out.

Both of these ladies are box office draws. Very important. Neither of them may win, but in my estimation, it had better be Stone.

Yes, just looking at their reputation in the academy, Stone is far more likely. It will come down to the roles they choose though. Stone has proven good at role selection, where Woodley is still a bit hit and miss.

They’ve both been great in pretty much everything I’ve seen them in, but Stone just seems much more likely. Best Perfs: Emma Stone- ‘Easy A’, ‘Birdman’, ‘The Help’. Shailene Woodley- ‘The Spectacular Now’, ‘The Descendants’, ‘The Fault In Our Stars’.

They’re both very good. But I think Stone will take one first. One reason is she finally joined the Oscar club this year and she has more years of film experience. Plus, she is working with the likes of Woody Allen.

I think Shaliene is the one to do so. Emma does alot of genres like Rom Coms, Coms, Dramas, and so on but Shaliene does alot of pandering to what the Academy likes with The Descendants and Snowden. Yeah Stone is working with Woody Allen for Irrational Man but Magic in the Moonlight wasn’t her best work. I love both of them but I think Shaliene would have the more baiter role to win her one though Emma Stone deserved one for Easy A

Emma Stone. That’s like obvious. She almost won last year while Woodley went 0 out of 3 for her worthy performances in “The Fault in Our Stars” “The Spectacular Now” and “The Descendants”.

Such an iconic performance. Shame it was a strong year for actresses (Kidman, Williams, Bening, Moore, Portman, Lawrence, Swinton, Hathaway, Manville, Swank, and many others) She could have won last year.

I liked Shailene Woodley’s performances in The Descendants and in The Spectacular Now. She’s better when she plays a more natural girl and whatnot. The Whatevergent Series are weird because they focus so much on her and the other guy but it’s Miles Teller who ends up stealing the spotlight. Like always.

However it’s Emma Stone who wins my heart. She’s delivered her fair share of iconic performances and I know in my bones she has much more in the horizon. Plus she’s already an Oscar nominee and was easily the runner up to Patricia Arquette. I know she’s winning it sooner or later.

Stone has an advantage. Woodley is on the academy radar, but i think it lacks a stronger work. Stone has been nominated, more famous – divergent it is far from being phenomenon or push Woodley to a supreme stardom as other like Stewart/Watson and Lawrence- So considering that neither of them are the best of his generation. Stone is ahead.

But i think Jennifer Lawrence will again and will be nominated twice before one of this two win or get close…

I’d go with Woodley. I like both and I know Stone has the nomination and the charms and all the factors to be more likely… now, but I see more actor chops in Woodley; she’s not there yet, but she can be first.

Interesting. I think he’s pretty terrible as Peter. For “Divergent” he almost made my ballot for Worst Supporting Actor as well.

Emma Stone. She would have won for “Birdman” if Patricia Arquette hadn’t been around.

I’m not so sure. If Arquette and Boyhood wouldnt’t have been around there would have been room for smaller movie fare. Nightcrawler maybe would have garnered attention and Rene Russo’s comeback would have been much bigger.
