I have to say that this category looks incredibly boring over the years as they always go with showy, colorful, period costumes, instead of choosing real dramatic efforts. They always forget contemporary! As if contemporary costumes weren’t good! I think Sandy Powell mentioned this in her 2nd Oscar speech?

Said that, I think this year the winner is going to be Paco Delgado (Blancanieves, Les miserables) because I feel the costumes (As makeup) will play a pivotal, dramatic role in The Danish Girl. They’re also period piece.

    What do you think?

I see Paco Delgado being the frontrunner for The Danish Girl.

I think Cinderella and MacBeth with be fighting for this. Carol, The Danish Girl, and Hateful Eight seem like the other contenders

The same thing that wins every year: A period piece with fancy dresses.

The Revenant LOOKS like the clear frontrunner.

With Cinderella’s success and decent reviews, I don’t see anyone beating it in that department.

I will be really surprised if Cinderella loses this.

I’d like to think that Macbeth will be a challenger, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it’s not going to come out this year. That said, TWC did just move Carol up to November, so maybe they want to squeeze Macbeth in right at the end of the year? I hope so.

Yeah. It bug me that the Academy doesn’t even see the costume design if its contemporary.

For now, I’ll go with Macbeth
