This comes out in a couple of weeks but the buzz is muted.
Why is that?
Jolie certainly showed she could handle helming with “Unbroken” last year and her script for “In the Land of Blood and Honey” was pretty darn good.
I think it’s just because the field is just too crowded. I am predicting a GG nod for Jolie, but that’s it.
After I saw the trailer back during the summer I guffawed, to be honest. It certainly has an interesting cast (Arestrup, Laurent, Bohringer etc) and the write-up on the script appears to be ‘uplifting’ by film’s end.
But the journey there? This looks like a slower, toned down Revolutionary Road, just the kind of film I’d want to watch when I’m depressed out of my mind….to add fuel to the fire.
Hope I’m wrong. I’ll see it, but I’d be surprised if very many others do.
Remember what happened the last time pundits blew their wad over Angelina Jolie?
Oh yea Unbroken did amazing at the Oscars didn’t it?
Plus the trailer is bad, and no screenings yet,
It’s not surprising people are waiting for this to actually seen before creating any hype.
Eh, Jolie directorial resume is mixed and this looks more like Eyes Wide Shut then an Oscar play. I’m sure BFCA will find a way to nominate her somehow.
Does anybody really even care? Like I’ll see it but its in the bottem half of movies I am looking foward to seeing, I don’t think you can compare Unbroken to this. Unbroken was a whole other beast. This just seems like a chance for Jolie and Pitt to work with each other again
