After, Spike Lee said he would boycott the Oscars after the shutout of any nominations for non-Caucasian actors. Jada Pinkett Smith said she would also protest for the same reason. Is it possible, host Chris Rock will follow and decide to step down from his hosting duties?

No way! He needs to stay and give these people the shit they deserve and in a way they won’t laugh about. The reactions from the losers in the crowd will be great to watch.

What do you mean? Who deserve and what? Rachel McAdams? Or Jennifer Jason Leigh for her first ever nomination (she has worked a BIT MORE for that nomination than Michael B. Jordan…)? Why would any of the nominees deserve anything bad? It’s not their fault they were selected as Oscar nominees and it would be disrespectful to call them out for no reason.

Exactly. I feel somehow bad for those who are nominated, but I also feel like future nominations of movies starring lesbians or POC as main characters could been seen as “white guilt” and not because they deserve it.
There is a lot to talk about, but a boycott is the wrong signal.

I’m not racist. But I will be soon, if these threads continue to pop up.

Jesus. Isn’t expecting recognition to be given to you because of your race racism? Sounds like Al Sharpton, Jada Smith, and Spike Lee are the ones with a race problem. They are all extremely wealthy individuals yet are somehow “victims” to the white oppressor. Pathetic. The Oscars have snubbed plenty of white people too don’t worry. Maybe these babies should act better and be in better movies.

My point was that of others refuse to present or follow Spike Lee and decide not to show up. Would Chris Rock drop out of hosting?

No. They picked the perfect person to host the show. He’s going to have a field day and ruffle some feathers. He shouldn’t drop out, and he also should go as hard as he can. It’s going to be a moment.

On who once again? Jennifer Jason Leigh has worked decades for the first nomination while Lupita Nyong’o won for her first ever role for a terrible performance. Life isn’t fair. But no one has the right to call out the nominees, we can bitching about how we hate or love them, but he as a host cannot comment on the nominees. Once again, it’s not their fault. Leonardo DiCaprio is fucking deserving of the Oscar and he has also worked his ass off to earn it. McAdams is a hard-working actress, Rampling too, and so on I can keep on the list. The nominees don’t deserve hate. Hate and blame the writers and call justice for ALL THE MINORITIES to have roles in Hollywood! That’s why we should do, not blaming and offending nominees.

Absolutely not. He’s going to go all in on thr Academy in his monologue like he should. And frankly, he needs the money too.

If he starts attacking the actors because they are nominated, it would be a disaster. Not only that it is not their fault, but the entire lineup is made of either truly deserving or first-time nominees. Whom is he going to attack? I simply see no point in it and it would be idiotic blaming the 20 nominees for the issues of entire industry. It wouldn’t even be remotely funny.

I don’t think Chris Rock should go after the nominated actors, nor would he. There’s a difference between criticizing the Oscars for being white and denigrating the specific actors and filmmakers who were nominated. I think most of the nominees this year did good work, but an industry that can result in an all-white slate of nominees two years in a row deserves to be skewered. People like me who criticize the acacdemy for #OscarsSoWhite aren’t saying, “Screw Rachel McAdams!” or anything like that. Our ire is directed at the institutions, which are the problem, and that’s the ideal target for Chris Rock to take aim at.

What ”two years in a row”? Selma was a Best Picture nominee last year.

I think they meant acting categories.
