I know there is another post for presenters but I went way back 🙂 Since DDL is retiring he would be and excellent choice to present one of the above categories. I still remember Jodie Foster reading his name when the race seemed to be between Tom Cruise and Morgan FreemAN.

Leo will win more then one. He probably already should have 3 🙂 I still think The Aviator should have been #1.

Leonardo Dicaprio sucks. I hope he’s not chosen to do it. The only thing tolerable about The Aviator was Cate Blanchett.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 9, 2018 at 5:44 pm #1202491019He’d have to present Best Actress. Personally, I think there should be a rule where the Best Picture presenter cannot have been in any of the nominees from that year. I always hate it when people present in a category where one of their own films is nominated.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 9, 2018 at 5:58 pm #1202491024They’re just going to make Damien Chazelle and Barry Jenkins both do it for BP
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 9, 2018 at 6:59 pm #1202491042Or maybe they’ll have Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway do it again with the right envelope this time? Or better yet, have a duo from a truly iconic film present. Tons of options come to mind: Jack Nicholson & Louise Fletcher, Anthony Hopkins & Jodie Foster, Mark Hamill & Harrison Ford, Leonardo DiCaprio & Kate Winslet, James Caan & Kathy Bates, Tom Hanks & Robin Wright, etc.

ReplyCopy URLFebruary 9, 2018 at 8:53 pm #1202491071It is always awkward when they have the presenter associated with one of the nominees. (not that Phantom thread is in contention.)
Sometimes it works (Mary Tyler Moore presented to Timothy Hutton.) But there are a lot of times when it doesn’t. Charlize Theron presented something that Mad Maxx was supposed to win (and didn’t) and the time where Melaine Griffith presented Best Supporting Actress seemed planned to reunite her with Sigourney Weaver………but then Geena Davis happened (somehow.)

Wrong. Theron and Emily Blunt presented Original Screenplay to Spotlight that year.

I have that factoid stuck in my head from an editor’s chat. Maybe I have the wrong person.
